What are your thoughts on riding in the rain?! Would you embrace it or avoid it?!

I often get asked by clients if they can swap a ride for an indoor session because of the weather, and my answer is always the same. . . . “Your goal is to race and get results? What are you going to do if on race day the weather is wet, windy and cold?!” I firmly believe that providing it is safe enough and you are confident then getting out in all weathers is vital. As riders (especially those wishing to race) the ability to read road conditions and to be able to control our bikes and our riding techniques in all weathers is a very important element to training and learning.

If I could give any tips it would be - ensure you have the correct kit!! Lights are a must, good quality waterproof clothing will keep the bad weather at bay! The correct winter tyres and if riding with others (or even if you just want to keep your bum dry!!!) then mud guards are great 😁 please pop in to our colleagues at Bikechain Ricci to get some friendly and professional advice.

Stay safe out there, ride accordingly and embrace the opportunity to develop your skills! If you’re not confident then please ask for advice or book a one to one session.

Who fancies a free early morning workout??

7am Wednesday 30th Jan at Bissoe Cafe.

This will be a 45min outdoor bootcamp class and is open to everyone and all levels of fitness. This first class is being run as a taster and will be free to all. If it proves popular then further classes will be organised with a small fee.

An early morning workout is a great way to start the day and healthy breakfasts will be available from the cafe post workout 😁

Did you make any New Years resolutions?!
Have you broken them already?!

I think it’s great to have specific goals to work towards but resolutions tend to be too demanding, too much of a change, often something that’s too hard to maintain!

If you’re struggling to stick to the ‘new you’ then try condensing your resolutions, try to be more specific. Rather than trying a diet that completely alters your standard food intake, instead, try reducing your weaknesses rather than cutting them out completely! This will limit the craving!
If you want to exercise more, be realistic, how much exercise can you fit into your life? Learn to enjoy exercise, don’t put yourself off! Find some classes that are fun, go for a walk with friends, try something new.

Ultimately, stay strong and be determined to be the best you that you can be, but for the right reasons 😁
