We’ve all been there. Going somewhere for the first time and having no idea what, or who else, to expect there.

It’s funny really - yoga is supposed to help us feel more at ease, yet walking into a studio for the first time can feel anything but.

Will I ‘fit in’? Will everyone else will be younger, stronger, bendier, or somehow know exactly what they’re doing? Will there be anyone like me?

The truth is that our community spans decades, in both age and length of practice.

Some people arrive in their twenties. Some have discovered yoga in their sixties or seventies. Some have practised for years, while others are stepping onto a mat for the very first time.

Just this morning, ahead of Jock’s Saturday class, we had some of our oldest friends, our past teacher training graduates, a farmer, a mortgage advisor, NHS staff, an artist, retirees, a gardener, and a lovely couple who were brand new to the studio today. It is diverse and wonderful and we love it.

Yoga doesn’t belong to one age group, body type, or stage of life.

So if you’re wondering whether there’ll be someone like you in the Lime House Yoga studio there’s a very good chance there will be. ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💜🩷

A little change within our Pregnancy Yoga community 🤍

As our resident pregnancy yoga teacher Ellie teaches her final class tonight before she heads off on maternity leave, we would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all the care, warmth, and support she brings to her classes. Ellie’s holds such a lovely space for so many women through pregnancy and beyond, and we’ll really miss her while she’s away. We’re so excited for this next chapter for her and wish her all the love as she prepares to meet her little one.

We’re also really pleased to be welcoming friend, student and yoga teacher Hannah Densham, who will be covering the classes during Ellie’s leave.

Hannah brings with her a beautiful blend of experience in yoga, women’s health, and perinatal mental health support, alongside a deeply thoughtful and nurturing approach to teaching. Her classes weave together movement, breathwork, relaxation, birth preparation, and space for connection - all held with great care and understanding for the realities of pregnancy and motherhood.

We’re really looking forward to having her at LHY over the coming months – if you’re expecting, why not join her from Thursday 11th June at the slightly later time of 6:30-8pm.

Congratulations Ellie and family 💗

Just a couple of small changes to the timetable from this week.

Kitty’s Thursday evening class will now be taught by Josh Bolding, as Grounded Vinyasa — a steady, breath-led practice to ease you through the end of the day.

And on Friday mornings, Restorative will now be held by Jessica Ebert , keeping the same slower, supportive tone to start the day.

You may already have practised with Josh if you’ve been to one of his cover classes, and Jessie if you’ve joined her for Aerial Restorative or Aerial Yin and it’s really lovely to now have them both stepping into regular classes.

Both are graduates of our Teacher Training, and it’s something we really value, supporting teachers as they grow into their own way of holding a space - please do come along and support them.

Kitty has recently taken on a full-time role with Hall for Cornwall, which we’re really pleased for her. We’re incredibly grateful for all the time, care, and thought she’s put into her classes here. She’s created something really special, and we’ll definitely miss her in those slots. She’ll still be very much around the studio though, continuing with her Yin class on Tuesday evenings and her 40 Hour Yin Training takes place again this September - applications now open!

If you’re booked into either class, everything carries on as normal — and if you’ve not practised with Josh or Jessie yet, this is a nice opportunity to get to know them. 🙏🏻

Amy loves it when she’s asked to get in front of the camera 😄

On our third attempt this morning, after she had already led the Mysore room, we had the perfect take until Jock decided to video bomb us 🙃

Ah well, hopefully we still got the message across! 😂

EARLY BIRD OFFER UNTIL 31st MAY for our 5 Day Ashtanga Immersion from 21-25 October 2026 with Amy and Jock.

Visit the website for all the details or DM us 🙏🏻

Ahead of this weekend’s Intro to Self-Practice (Mysore), we asked one of our long-time students Mel to share her experience of transitioning from regular, led classes, to the Mysore room:

“I’d spent several years as a student at Lime House & attended mostly Ashtanga style led classes but tended to think I wasn’t ‘good enough’ or strong enough and needed to perfect certain poses to be a regular Mysore student.

Jock has always been incredibly encouraging…making me feel that I had enough knowledge and experience to cope with a Mysore class & because the teaching at Lime House is so good, making the transition was actually not as difficult as I had feared.

I wanted to intensify my practice as I got older, rather than let it dwindle… & I soon found that the self practice enabled me to do this at my own pace.

I think the principal change is the way you gain agency for your own practice. In the Mysore practice I have agency over every single move or moment of stillness. I have learned that I can regulate my energy & work in the way I need at that moment.

The atmosphere is extremely supportive — there is no need to worry what other students are thinking or doing because we are all focussed on our own practice.

People like myself, in my late sixties, will be seen as equally valid practitioners and encouraged to develop in a safe and constructive way.

I have never regretted showing up and the benefits far, far outweigh the effort.”

Thank you so much to Mel for sharing - you can read her full Mysore story on the website and if you’ve been considering Self-Practice, why not dip those toes in this weekend?!

We’ve got two workshops with Jock this May 🙌🏻

• Saturday 2nd May, 10-11:30am

This month’s Mini Masterclass Backbends: Focusing on Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel Pose), this masterclass explores the posture as a process rather than an end point. Through progressive work on the shoulders, spine, and legs, Jock will help you build the understanding and confidence needed to approach the pose in a steady, sustainable way.

JOIN JOCK’S MASTERCLASS IN STUDIO OR ONLINE!

• Sunday 10th May, 10am-12:30pm
Intro to Self-Practice (Mysore)
These 2 and a half hour workshops are designed as a pre-cursor or intro to Self Practice (Mysore) classes - the first step on to your path of learning the Ashtanga Primary series, and a good lead-in to October’s 5 Day Ashtanga Immersion.

Book via link in bio. All workshops available to book with credits 🙏🏻
