Penair is a dog free & smoking free (including va**ng) site. Please help us maintain our hire agreement by adhering to these rules. HOW IS IT RUN? We are a community-centred organisation run entirely by volunteers. Yep, TCYFC is run ENTIRELY by volunteers from the top down: the club committee, all our league teams, & of course Community Football (known as CF). CF is at the heart of the club’s development, growth & success & is led by FA qualified coaches, DBS checked & 1st Aid & child safeguarding & welfare trained, assisted by fantastic volunteers, many of whom have completed the FA Playmaker training. Some of the FA coaches you see at CF manage league teams & are on the club's committee. We're all volunteers if I didn't make that clear. : )
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? The coaches & volunteers help develop player's skills in teamwork, communication, coordination & balance, & confidence through team play in a safe environment; however, the emphasis is on fun!
& of course, RESPECT is a fundamental value of the club. WHO IS IT OPEN TO/WHO CAN ATTEND? Primary school boys & girls of any ability from Reception to Year 6 inclusive. It is often the children's first experience of organised football outside of school. There are NO restrictions regarding what school you go to. We cannot accept players that are not yet at primary school. YR7 & 8 SESSIONS
From 09.00 - 10.00hrs we offer a session for Yr7 & 8s. We started this after lockdown following a large group of Yr6s who outgrew regular CF. IS THERE A WAITING LIST? Register (instructions to find online form below), turn up & pay as you play!!! (First taster session is free). WHERE DOES IT TAKE PLACE? On the astro pitch at Penair Academy, St. Clement's Hill, Truro, TR1 1TN. The astro is on the next left after you pass the main entrance to Penair Academy (also on your left). Follow the road around to the right & you'll see the astro building in front of you. The pitch is behind the building. You'll see the admin team at the building entrance, they'll direct you. WHEN DOES IT TAKE PLACE? Saturday mornings. All sessions start at 10.00hrs. Reception & Year 1 finish at 11.00; remaining players at 11.30hrs. Players begin arriving from 09.30hrs. CF runs from early/mid-September through to mid-May. We generally run 5 blocks of sessions, each block lasting 5 - 7 weeks, depending on the length of the school term. WHAT'S THE COST & HOW DO I/WE PAY? We call your child’s first session a ‘taster’ & it’s FREE!!! Subsequent sessions are £4.00. Please don't pay £4.00 with a £20 - you wipe out our change float. CONTACTLESS. We have a new machine, so payments should be smoother. Lower fees we incur using this means we've withdrawn the prepayment option. ONLINE PAYMENTS. This option is now withdrawn due to the higher fees we were charged for the service. PLAYER REGISTRATION & SIGNING IN. A player registration form only needs to be completed ONCE a season; one form per player/sibling only please. Players NEED to be ticked off on their year group register on arrival as part of our SAFEGUARDING obligations. When players first sign in, they'll be assigned a number next to their name. This helps find players on the sign in sheets when they next attend, speeding p the process. We've simplified how to access our Community Football player registration form, now on our club website. Please download, print, complete CLEARLY (ideally in capitals) & in FULL & return to the admin team when you next attend. We've a handful of blank forms with the admin team. You CANNOT complete the form online. ALL players MUST be registered before participating. We start signing in players at 09.30hrs. MEDS & ADDITIONAL PLAYER LEARNING/BEHAVIOUAL NEEDS. Please speak to our coaches (discreetly if you wish) if your child has medical needs, e.g., asthma inhaler, or learning/behaviour needs, e.g. hearing/vision impairments, difficulty in following more than one instruction. This will help us adjust instructions to meet the needs of our young players & ensure they have a good time. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING/WEAR? We do not provide or sell football kits. Dress appropriately regarding weather. If drizzling, wear synthetics. Please do NOT send players to CF wearing cotton, especially hoodies - they'll get cold very quickly if cotton gets wet. Astro boots only, but trainers are fine, especially if it’s your first session. Studs & moulded boots are NOT permitted by direct instruction from Penair. We've a limited astro boot exchange programme to help keep the cost of buying new boots down. These are USED boots & have been donated by parents as their kids get bigger. Don’t bring your own football as we try to keep the waiting area clear of wayward balls flying around. WHAT DO I DO WHILE I WAIT? Sales of refreshments & snacks/treats are usually for sale, depending on the availability of our volunteers. These are cash sales only, so bring change or small notes please. Volunteer!! See below. WHAT IF I'D LIKE TO VOLUNTEER? The success & longevity of CF is down to our wonderful volunteers. Football skills/knowledge is NOT essential; your willingness to give up a few hours on a Saturday morning (not every Saturday) is far more important. Leave after volunteering with amazing feeling that you've done something for kids in our community. This 'recruitment' message applies to men & women, on or off the astro. We're a friendly bunch; come & say high!! HOW DO I KNOW IF CF IS CANCELLED? Player safety & comfort is our No.1 priority. We only cancel if it is clear the weather will be bad, or sadly if we don't have enough volunteers to run sessions safely. A cancellation notice will be posted on our page as close to 09.00hrs as humanly possible. It is therefore important that you ‘Like’ & follow the page & check our posts. DO NOT SEND INDIVIDUAL MESSAGES ON A SATURDAY MORNING PLEASE. THEY WILL NOT BE ANSWERED AS IT DELAYS SENDING THE FACEBOOK POST TO ALL. LEAGUE TEAM ENQUIRIES/JOINING A LEAGUE TEAM?
