CONSIDERATIONS FOR LONG DISTANCE TRAINING.

Long distance training is a lot more than just “eat lots of pasta the night before” there are so many considerations for long distance events and training for them but here are my top 3.

1. Fuelling
2. Hydration
3. Electrolytes

FIRST RACE OF THE YEAR/FIRST RACE AS AN CARDIO ATHLETE 😂✅

So today we took part in the Copper Coastal Trail Race, the weather was sub optimal but I’m happy with performance!

Official time: 1:29:13
Official placement: 26/293

Legs feel a bit done in now but I’m over the moon with my performance! Hopefully we’ll have some more great races this year!

Eh just a little difference... from 100kg in 2018 to sitting around 80kg without tracking food just eating sensibly and responsibly in 2020.

From bodybuilding to cycling.

From tracking food meticulously to not at all.

The last couple of years have been a journey but a good one.

I’m please to say I passed my level 2 gym instructor and level 3 nutrition qualifications and I will be working towards my level 3 PT qualification so I can start up my own PT business.

Also I am pleased to say that when races start up again I will 100% be putting myself forward for some.

A big thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way! Here’s to the next few years.

In all seriousness the last few days I’ve been without a turbo trainer so I’ve had to train in a mix of outdoor and wattbike training... my outdoor sessions have made me realise what an impact my indoor training has had on my riding! Taking PB’s left, right and centre... I can’t wait to start racing in real life and hopefully put that training to good use.

Getting that sprint practice in on one of watt bikes testing the kit out ready for reopening on the 10th!! We can’t wait to see everyone again! Watch the flexi page for further updates on reopening.

Today’s session was just a 1hr quick ride with 10 mins over intervals added onto the end. First time back on the wattbike in like 20 weeks so took a little getting used too again but was very good.

Max power output today was 1486 watts which is incredible and I’m over the moon with it.

Those 200m zwift sprint finishes where the HR gets up to 193bpm and you feel like you’re about to die... first race with the team today and was good fun! The official results came back and I placed 2nd so another podium finish to add to the board and I think as a team we were the best team there... overall it was an amazing event.

This is how my custom program left me yesterday... 85% FTP hold for 60mins followed by 5 intervals... it was not pleasant to say the least!

Today’s interval session include some race start practice and some full interval training. Wish me luck people.
