A Chronicle of Dust, Glory, and the Boom — with the gates about to open once more
Welcome, friends of the Cornish diamond. Five game-weeks in, the 2026 Kernow Baseball League has given us thunderous blowouts, one-run heartbreaks, home runs "from the gods," and at least one victory decided not by the bat but by the rulebook. Here is where we stand on the eve of another Sunday.

The Dynamite are flawless. But note the Blue Jays — the reigning champions sit second on wins yet lead the entire league in run differential (+27). The most dominant scoring side in Kernow is quietly biding its time.

A double-header in the sunshine, and two very different stories:
Truro Blue Jays 13 – 5 Falmouth Oystercatchers.
The reigning champions flexed their muscle, riding outstanding pitching and a deep batting order to a comfortable win. Falmouth refused to go quietly — AJ launched a beautiful home run for the Oystercatchers and a subsequent rally of hits and runs — but the Blue Jays were simply too strong, climbing to 4–1 and reminding everyone exactly who wears the crown.
Roseland Rebels 14 – 11 Carn Brea Dynamite … win awarded to Carn Brea.
The afternoon's great drama. The Rebels, swinging fearless, out-scored the unbeaten Dynamite 14–11 on the field — a result that would have been the shock of the season. But Roseland had arrived short-handed and borrowed two players to complete their nine, and under league rules the victory was awarded to Carn Brea. The Dynamite's perfect record survives — 5–0 — on a technicality, while the Rebels walk away with the moral victory and a story they'll tell for years. Baseball, in all its cruel and glorious complexity.
🔥 The Storylines
The Revenge Tour. Last season's championship final went to the Truro Blue Jays, who edged the Carn Brea Dynamite. This year the Dynamite have answered with a flawless 5–0 — including a head-to-head 14–11 win over the champions on 26 April. First blood in the rematch saga has gone to Carn Brea. The final reckoning surely awaits.
The Champions Lurk. Don't be fooled by second place. Truro's only defeat all season came against the Dynamite, and their +27 differential is the league's best. They know how to win the big one — they did it last year.
The Rebels Rising. Just 1–4 on paper, but Roseland have a 26-run avalanche over Falmouth, a one-run thriller, and now a 14-run effort against the unbeaten champions to their name. The newest tribe is learning fast — and swinging hard.
The Ballad of the Oystercatchers. Winless at 0–5, and yet adored. Falmouth have pushed the Dynamite to the final pitch (17–19 on 31 May), hit gorgeous home runs through Stu and AJ, and never once stopped smiling. Their first win is coming, and all of Kernow will roar when it does.

The league reconvenes on the Roseland Peninsula, and the questions hang heavy in the Cornish air:
Can anyone hand the Carn Brea Dynamite their first true defeat — and will it count this time?
Will the Blue Jays keep pace and force the title showdown we're all dreaming of?
Can the Rebels turn their moral victories into a result on the sheet?
And will tomorrow be the day the Oystercatchers finally taste glory?
