Really feeling back on form after my spinal injury.
This was the exercise I was doing when I got the injury.
I was pushing too hard and broke my form.
I made it over the top, but I bent my back and smashed into the bar. It cause my C6 and C7 spinal column to fracture under the pressure as I crashed into the bar.
This lead to nerve damage in spine and down my right arm, causing severe pain immediately.
This pain persisted, and half my right hand went numb.
My back, right tricep and lat began to consistently spasm for 2 months.
The right arm became soo weak I couldn't even do a single push up with it.
For the first time ever I met a physiotherapist and osteopath, thanks to the NHS to assess the injury and prescribe rehab exercises.
For the first time ever I went to a chiropractor, Maristow Clinic in Westbury to get a massage and adjustment to relieve the pain and the stiffness.
For the first time ever I went onto the pain medication Co-Codamol, so I could actually get to sleep, propped up in a chair in a specific way to stop pressure on by back sending the nerves into agony overdrive.
It was incredibly humbling to be injured this badly.
After 2 months, I could finally do a push up...
3 months and I could do a pull up...
Got off the meds too.
After 4 months, I finally could do a muscle up again... The exercise that injured me
5 months later here I am doing 2 in a set.
(I actually managed 2 sets of 3 after. OOOSS!)
I could only do 4-5 previously, now I'm almost matching that at I'm aiming for more. 10 to be precise, at 90Kg-85Kg bodyweight when I finish my bulk.
I hope this story is in inspiration for people to fight through your injuries. Don't give up and give yourself and excuse to not get better.
If your in pain now and your not working on it, it will get worse. It will being to hurt more, more often and in different ways.
You need to fight it and not run away from the problem.
Moving is the only way.
Putting in the work and doing it yourself is the only way.
