Spring is here and it makes us want to get out paddling. One of our popular club activities during the lighter months (May-September) is paddle-and-a-pint. A mid-week, evening paddle with fellow club members, we head out from our boat shed for an hour or so, followed by a glass of something in the local pub.

For competent paddlers, and you do need to be a member.

It was a lovely sunny morning for the adult beginners course, on their last session of the term. A paddle on the Wendover arm with a stop for coffee and mince pies. Christmas hats were optional.

Our club organises some friendly polo games for members in a local pool, which are becoming more popular as the days are getting shorter and colder. Polo is great exercise, and we have a good laugh with a mix of abilities.

It’s peak season for our weekly paddle-board sessions at Weston Turville reservoir. A friendly environment, whether you’re a complete beginner who tends to fall in or an experienced paddler looking to practice your skills.

A regular route for our club is the 2-hour paddle along the Tring summit from Bulbourne to Cowroast locks, and back. The trip up the Wendover Arm is more picturesque in my humble opinion, but this one is good for people who want to push a bit harder, and go a bit further. Here they are, taking a rest at Cowroast. 🙂

Some of our club members went for a day on the River Ivel in Bedfordshire. Here they are, shooting one of the weirs!
