Hi everyone

I run weekly hatha yoga classes in Aston Clinton and Wingrave - but you might be wondering what is hatha yoga?

Hatha yoga is a fabulous blend of strength and chill vibes! It’s like taking your body to a spa day where you do a bit of work before soaking in the relaxation. You’ll go into poses that stretch you out like a cat waking up from a nap, while your breath becomes your secret superpower. One minute you’re standing as a majestic tree, and the next, you’re bending like a pretzel, all while finding that sweet spot between effort and ease. Hatha yoga is basically the perfect recipe for feeling like a strong, flexible and chilled superhero!

What’s more, if you’re new to yoga, it’s a great way to learn the fundamentals.

Still not sure? Why not come and try one of my classes, £5 for your first class, just use code ‘NEW24’ when booking using the following link: https://www.yogawithsamlees.co.uk/appointments

It’s Friday morning, it’s raining (a lot) so trying to make classes a little cosier today! It’s the least I can do if people are coming out in the rain to practice yoga with me. Well done everyone. 🙌🏻

Happy Monday everyone!

Here’s a reminder of my weekly class schedule.

This month the theme of my classes is to explore some of the history of yoga. I mean, how do yoga poses get their names?

For example, why is there a yoga twist called Lord of the Fishes (Matsyendrasana)? What story inspired the warrior poses we practice? If you want to find out more why not come along to one of my classes. If you already know, post below!

Have a lovely week. x

Thank you to the wonderful yogis who joined me for some lovely yin yoga at my first Sunday Stillness session today. It was so enjoyable to teach! When I trained to become a yoga teacher, yin yoga was the type of yoga I really wanted to explore from a teaching perspective so I feel like I’ve fulfilled my wishes today. 🙌

I enjoyed it so much I forgot to take any photos unfortunately so I’ll just post a picture of the pretty surrounding countryside. Happy Sunday!! 🪷

p.s. Don’t worry if you missed out - I’ll be running the next one on 15 September.

Last time I posted about how yoga can benefit us by improving strength. One of the other reasons a lot of people start yoga though is to improve flexibility. But how does it help?

💪🏻Yoga systematically stretches and lengthens muscles through a variety of poses and sequences.

✨Poses like forward bends, twists, and backbends gently extend the range of motion in the joints, gradually loosening tight muscles and connective tissues.

⭐️ Yoga emphasizes mindful breathing, which helps to relax the body and ease tension, allowing deeper stretches.

🪷Regular yoga practice promotes gradual and safe increases in flexibility, enhancing overall mobility and reducing the risk of injury by ensuring that muscles remain supple and responsive.

More reasons to love yoga!

Want to know more about the benefits of yoga? Well let’s talk a little bit more about how yoga can build strength.

💪🏻Multiple muscle groups are engaged through a variety of poses and sequences that require both static holds and dynamic movements.

🙌 Many yoga postures, such as plank, warrior poses, and downward-facing dog, demand significant muscle engagement, particularly in the core, arms, and legs.

⭐️ The practice enhances muscle endurance and stability by promoting slow, controlled movements and sustained holds, which help to develop both strength and muscle tone over time.

💫 Additionally, the emphasis on proper alignment and balance in yoga encourages the use of smaller, stabilizing muscles that are often overlooked in conventional strength training.

What’s not to like about that?!
