From Underdogs to Champions
At the beginning of this journey, I don’t think many people would have looked at us and said, “There are the champions.”
We were the underdogs. A group of women who simply loved playing cricket, loved being part of a team and, most importantly, loved doing it together.
But somewhere along the way, something changed.
We started believing.
We believed in ourselves, but even more importantly, we believed in each other.
Every training session, every difficult game, every mistake, every ridiculous moment, every bit of encouragement and every time one of us said “come on, we can do this” brought us a little closer to where we are today.
League Champions 2026.
And saying those words still feels pretty special.
Because this title isn’t just about the matches we won. It’s about how far we’ve come.
Year after year, our coaches have pushed us to become better players. They’ve given us their time, patience, knowledge and encouragement — even on the days when I’m sure we’ve tested every last ounce of that patience! They saw potential in us and kept believing in what this team could become.
To our coaches — thank you. This achievement belongs to you too.
We also know that no team succeeds alone.
Behind us is a community of people who have supported us, encouraged us, turned up for us and celebrated every little step forward. There are people working quietly behind the scenes who probably don’t realise just how important their contribution has been.
To the organisations that have supported and invested in us, thank you for believing that women’s cricket is worth investing in. Your support has given us opportunities, equipment and experiences that have helped this team grow.
And to our families, friends, supporters and everyone within our community who has stood behind us — thank you. Every message, every cheer from the sidelines and every bit of encouragement has mattered.
But finally, I want to say something about us.
What makes this team special isn’t a league table or a trophy.
It’s the friendships.
It’s the laughter.
It’s taking the mickey out of each other, picking each other up when things haven’t gone well, celebrating each other’s successes and knowing that when we walk onto that field, nobody stands there alone.
We have different personalities, different strengths and different reasons for playing — but somehow, when we come together, we work.
We started as the underdogs.
We worked.
We learned.
We laughed — a lot.
We got better.
And somewhere along the way, those underdogs became the team to beat.
So when we look at that trophy, I hope we don’t just see League Champions 2026.
I hope we see every training session, every person who believed in us, every friendship we’ve made, every obstacle we’ve overcome and every memory we’ve created together.
Because trophies will eventually gather dust.
But we’ll never forget the year we proved to ourselves what we were capable of.
From underdogs…
