Round two in the March for Mat, and it’s fair to say this little beauty is starting to show what she can do! 😍

Free Practice was all about learning the ropes again. Different lines, different gear changes and a whole new driving experience compared to his usual Formula Ford.

Qualifying saw Mat put in the work and come away with 14th place. Not bad when you’re up against much newer, much faster machinery! The March was one of the oldest cars on the grid, running one of the smallest engines. But horsepower isn’t everything… and we’re pretty sure nothing else on the grid looked quite as good! 😉❤️

Then came Race 1, and Mat certainly had something to smile about! Despite a rolling start that didn’t quite bring the pack together, he got his head down and delivered FASTEST LAP IN CLASS AND FIRST IN CLASS! 🥇

Race 2 brought a little more drama. Starting 11th, Mat was battling away until oil on the circuit made things rather interesting. Sometimes the smartest move is knowing when to bring the car home safely. With just a couple of laps to go, Mat could feel something wasn’t quite right. This is where being both a driver and a mechanic comes in handy! 👨‍🔧 Mat suspected trouble, and sure enough, he had a puncture. He took the chequered flag and carefully brought the March home, securing 9th place despite the puncture!

So, what are we taking home from Silverstone?

🏆 Fastest lap in class
🥇 First in class
🏁 Another top 10 finish

Not bad for a second outing in the March, is it?!

The only downside? The shopping list just got longer… NEW TYRES REQUIRED! 😂💸

As for when you’ll see this beauty again? The March will be back out somewhere before the year is over. Keep your eyes peeled! 👀

Our beautiful 1982 Reynard Formula Ford has been fully rebuilt from the ground up and is ready to race, with no expense spared.

🔧 Chassis No: 34-1982

🇦🇪 One of just seven Reynards originally built for the United Arab Emirates Air Force, making this a particularly rare and historically interesting car.

The car has recently received extensive work, including:

• Fully rebuilt engine
• JPR-built gearbox with ratios
• New wiring throughout
• New fuel tank
• New Racetec rev counter
• New Smiths oil & water gauges
• New brake pads
• New bearings & rod ends
• New radiators
• New rain light
• New coil & distributor cap
• Chassis stripped & powder coated
• Suspension stripped & powder coated
• Brake calipers plated & rebuilt

The car retains its original seat and original shock absorbers, while the bodywork has deliberately been left with its original race patina — keeping the character, history and authenticity of this fabulous Reynard.

The car is eligible for Heroes of FF1600, United and Superclassic, making it an exciting opportunity to get involved in historic Formula Ford racing.

This weekend, we handed over our beautiful Lyncar to its new owners, Adrian and Mike — and what a way to begin its next chapter. ❤️

Mat had the privilege of taking the car out at Sywell Piston & Props for its very first outing, and honestly… we don’t think it has ever looked more beautiful.

Seeing this incredible car back out where it belongs, being driven and enjoyed, was a very special moment for all of us at Shift Point Racing. 🏁

There’s something pretty special about seeing a car with so much character finally return to the track and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Adrian, Mike and this stunning Lyncar.

Although… after Mat’s second weekend away from his Formula Ford, we’re starting to wonder if we’ll ever get him back in it!

What a first outing. What a car. What a chapter ahead. ❤️
