We had three drivers representing us this weekend at Brands Hatch: Mathew Smith, George Townsend, and our newest driver, Chris Frost. Unfortunately, George was unable to race due to mechanical issues but remained in great spirits while supporting the team.
In qualifying, Mat secured 24th in his brand-new Van Diemen, while Chris, making his debut in the Reynard 84, qualified 30th. Due to the race format, they started 16th and 20th respectively for Race One.

Mat was making strong progress while battling Simon Langman and Ben Barry, but his race ended prematurely after a stuck throttle caused contact with the barriers. We’re pleased to confirm that he is okay. Chris delivered an impressive drive to finish 13th.

In Race Two, Chris started 19th, enjoyed a fantastic battle with Simon Langman, and brought the car home in 16th, also setting the fastest lap in his class.

A positive and productive weekend overall, and we now look forward to Oulton Park.

See you all at Brands Hatch!

The year is 1973, the track is Norisring, Germany. Tim Schenken drives his Rondel M1 Formula 2 car to victory, ahead of Tom Pryce & Henri Pescarolo also driving Rondel M1's. This marked a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finish for the Ray Jessop designed Rondel Racing cars which was some achievement for the team led by Ron Dennis and Neil Trundle who decided to design and build their own cars for the 1973 season.

As our very first race weekend, our drivers did a brilliant job representing the team!
We had George Townsend in his Merlyn Mk17 and Mathew Smith in his Reynard 84, both putting in fantastic efforts throughout the event.

George took part in Heat 2, where he qualified 18th. In the race, he unfortunately slipped back to 22nd, but bounced back strongly in the Progression Race, finishing 8th and securing a place in the Last Chance Race. There, he came home 23rd, earning the spot of first reserve for the Semi-Finals.

George did make it onto the track for Semi-Final 2, finishing 29th out of 32 cars — an excellent achievement for his debut at such a competitive event.

He also competed in the Carl Hamer Trophy, lining up 14th for the Pre-Final and battling his way to 13th at the flag. In the Final, George once again showed consistency, moving from 14th to finish 13th.
A hugely impressive weekend for George — especially for his first time at the Walter Hayes Trophy! Even more remarkable is that he achieved all this while driving one of the oldest cars on the grid, competing against many brand-new machines — a true testament to his skill and determination behind the wheel.

Mathew lined up in Heat 3, qualifying 25th and finishing 20th after a strong drive. That result put him into the Progression Race, where he initially held 12th before a brief off-track excursion (the grass proved much too slippery!) dropped him to 20th.

As a reserve for the Last Chance Race, Mathew got the call to race and brought the car home in 26th place.

Mathew also entered the Janet Cesar Trophy, where he started the Pre-Final in 21st and finished 20th after some great on-track battles. In the Final, he gained another position to finish 19th, showing determination and steady improvement throughout the weekend.

A fantastic effort from Mathew — we’re really proud of his performance and can’t wait to see what he achieves next season!

A massive thank you to PPM Photography for the fantastic pictures
