Medical Information
Please ensure you complete your details on the back of your race number, these are vital should you need medical attention.
Race HQ
Race HQ is located at Stanleys Own Scout Hut, Romsey Road, Copythorne, Southampton, SO40 2PB.
Toilets are located at HQ both in the scout hut with additional portaloos outside.
A bag is available in the main hall of the scout hut, however this is not manned and all bags are left at your own risk. We recommend leaving bags in care where possible.
Post race there will be food options on sale at Race HQ. The Guides/Scouts will be selling Tea/coffee and bacon and/or eggs rolls. We will also a wonderful selection of cakes on offer to purchase from Shopkins Scrumptious Creations. Both will accept cash or card payments.
Recycle your old metal medals, sportswear and trainers
Teesmedals has committed to the HRRL league races this year to provide recycling services. The recycle station will be on site to collect old metal medals, sportswear and trainers to recycle.
Sports T-shirts are not typically wanted at charity shops, nor are used trainers - tees medals have found two charities to work with who can and do re-use sportswear - and metal recycles forever, so if you have metal medals that you no longer want, then please do bring them along for responsible recycling.
If you have decent trail trainers, these are like gold dust to one of the charities and are greatly received. If you would like to know more: https://www.teesmedalsclubs.com/recycling-responsibility
Car Parking
Car Parking at this event is extremely limited and we highly recommend car sharing where possible to ease the stress for us and you!
Even better you could use another form or transport - those wishing to cycle to the event will be able to lock their bikes to the fence around the scout field which will be manned by car park marshals for the duration of the event.
Car Park 1 will be open from 7am and is located on the field behind Copythorne Parish Hall on Pollards Moor Road (SO40 2NZ). There is an overflow car park at Race HQ, and we will direct cars to park there once Car Park 1 is full. Car Park 1 is a 10 minute walk from HQ so please allow time for this.
Both Car Parks are located within the course cordon and they will not reopen to allow cars to leave until it is safe to do so with other runners on the course. We estimate this to be around 10:15 based on last year. Please be patient with us as runners safety on the course is paramount.
Please ensure you arrive with time to park before the road closure closes the car parks, this will be 08:30 for Romsey Road and 08:45 for Winsor Road. Please aim to travel to the race via Cadnam and not Romsey Road as Romsey Road will close earlier to get the start line set up.
Please do not try and park on surrounding streets to be considerate to local residents who are already being patient having their local area closed for the race.
Race Start
The race will start at 9am.
Please note the start line is not at Race HQ and is on Romsey Road further up from the HQ area. We aim to start moving runners to the start by 08:45am with the race briefing to take place at the start line.
The course is a closed road course. However, there may be a small number of residents who require access during this time. If this is the case marshals will direct residents and runners to ensure this is done safely. Please follow marshal instructions.
The Course
The course is two laps of a 5k route and has been officially measured and holds a certificate of course accuracy.
The race starts on Romsey Road just down from the Empress of Blandings public house before heading down Romsey Road and turning left onto Pollards Moore Road. At the end of Pollards Moore Road the course turns left onto Winsor Road until The Compass Pub where the water station is located. At the water station runners will turn left onto Barrow Hill Road which they will follow to the end turning left once more onto Romsey Road for lap 2. At the end of the second lap marshals will direct you left into race HQ and the much looked for finish line in the field at the Scout Hut.
The race is run under UKA rules and only bone conducting headphones are permitted, all other headphones must not be worn and runners could be withdrawn from the results if wearing them. Safety is paramount and runners will need to hear instructions from marshals on the course.
Water Station
There is 1 water station on the course at approx. 2.5k, you will go past this twice. The water station is being run by the lovely people at The Compass Inn, we highly recommend a visit!!
Water will also be available at the finish "" please bring your own cup or bottle to help us keep the environmental impact down!
Fire risk
In light of recent weather and challenging conditions in the New Forest, please note that we are operating a no smoking site.
Results and Award Presentation
Your chip time will be sent to your mobile (if you added one at entry) on completion of the race.
There will be trophies for the First, Second and Third Male and Female and these will be presented at Race HQ at approx 10:30.
The HRRL will also be handing out some awards immediately after.
Please stick and around to cheer and eat some cake while you wait!
