Pike fishing will be limited to one day a fortnight per beat, keeping angling pressure to a minimum in order to protect the pike. A strictly enforced set of rules is also in place for the same reason. Guided by myself, Tim Lennon, this is an amazing opportunity for small groups of 2 or 3 anglers per day. The capture of Charlie's 34lber prompted me to negotiate for coarse fishing access in order to assess the pike fishing potential of the Testwood and Nursling Beats of the River Test. I only had time to organise one group of three anglers to fish one day before the end of last season. Between them they had 4 pike of over 20lbs, the biggest an impressive 23lb 14oz.
