In our practice, a well-timed strike isn't an act of aggression—it’s a moment of truth. Sometimes, a little poke in the ribs is exactly what’s needed to remind Uke that their posture is broken or their focus has drifted. Without the threat of atemi, our techniques become a dance rather than a martial art, I believe there is room for both in Aikido waza.
