Welcome to TARFC. We have men, junior & female sections, all celebrated as part of our 'One Club' ethos. Any questions, please drop us a message!

Our Clubhouse is spacious, dog-friendly, has great staff & multiple tv screens; it's also available for hire. We run four Senior Sides: 1st XV, 2nd XV, 3rd XV and a Colts (Under 18’s XV). Over the years, we have produced several international players – Bath and England Ho**er Lee Mears started his rugby journey with TARFC. Mike Davis, a local Torquay lad, played and coached England in the 70’s. Forwards Coach John Widdicombe, another Torquinian, played for Newport and the Barbarians XV. We have a thriving Junior Section catering for 7 year olds upwards. On a Sunday morning there are over 200 children and parents training and playing rugby – “a playground for rugby”. We have one of the strongest Junior Sections in the South West and organise a Mini Easter Tournament which attracts teams from South Wales, the Midlands and London, who participate in the event. Torquay has a proud history of producing quality players who have represented England at Under 16 level: Rupert Seldon, Lee Mears, Andy Baker, James Manley, Jon Bourne and Chris Bell . Bell joined Plymouth Albion and captained England Under 18. Ben Cole who came through our juniors section joined the Saracens and gained Under 21 England honours. Richard Hunt also gained England Under 19 and Under 21 honours. Ben Rowntree had Welsh Under 18 honours. Certainly an impressive list of honours for any Rugby Club.

🏉 𝗖𝗢𝗔𝗖𝗛'𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗡𝗘𝗥 - 𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗙𝗖 𝗩 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗔𝗦𝗛 🏉

We caught up with Assistant Coach Jake Harker following the 1st XV game against Saltash on Saturday...

"Firstly, I would like to give credit where it is due to Saltash, who came to The Rec determined to challenge us. They had some quick backs who found gaps in our defence, putting us on the back foot, and a solid forward pack who were competitive at the breakdown. They repeatedly slowed our attack throughout the game.

The lads came out of the blocks well and scored a well-worked team try. As a result, we became complacent, and in a league as competitive as this one, if you give a team an inch, they will take a mile.

During the second half, we showed grit and determination and put some points on the board, but ultimately it was not enough to secure victory. This early in the season, we have shown that we have what it takes in both defence and attack to threaten teams. However, we have not been consistent enough across the full 80 minutes, which is something we will need if we are to compete in a tough away match against Camborne next week.

Despite injuries throughout the squad, we have had players step up and put in solid performances. Their hard work and ambition were noticeable.

I would also like to wish Craig a speedy recovery after undergoing surgery on his jaw on Saturday evening. Thankfully, he is on the mend.

We are still some way from being the finished article, but the emotion the lads showed after the loss tells us, as a coaching staff, that they are determined to put things right. That starts at training on Tuesday.

As a team, we need to stay tight in these tough situations and earn the flight" 🦢 J.H

A fantastic experience at Sandy Park!

A number of players from Torquay Rugby Club’s junior section were lucky enough to visit Sandy Park last weekend for a brilliant day of rugby.

The players took part in a training session on the Chiefs’ training paddock, enjoyed a tour of the ground and had the honour of forming the guard of honour as Exeter Chiefs Women ran out for their match against Loughborough Lightning.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our young players to experience a professional rugby environment, learn new skills and be part of a special matchday atmosphere.

The players were incredibly grateful for the experience, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Exeter Chiefs Official for making the day possible and to Alex for organising the opportunity.

Experiences like these are what junior rugby is all about — learning, developing and inspiring the next generation! 🏉
