B TEAM ARE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!
Dainton B team hosted Stover on the 5th September in a top of the table shootout on a beautifully sunny Saturday only requiring 2.5 points to be champions for the 1st time.
Stover came to win with a very competitive side and were receiving a lot of shots in the matches but it is worth noting that the Dainton B team have not lost at home in at least 3 years!!
The kitchen staff looked after us all as always with a superb breakfast which the opposition were very complimentary of so many thanks are due to all the staff at Dainton park particularly in the kitchen and also in the greenkeepers shed.
Whilst Dainton as a squad were behind 5:2 early on, as matches developed the team showed grit and determination and dug in, then the results started to swing in to our favour.
Dainton win 4.5 : 2.5 on the day to take the title.
There were very welcome beverages provided by club vice captain Richard Hooper-Bennett and his wife Niki, there was also a pint behind the bar for the players provided by the club. Thank you.
There was welcome support out on the course from the Fuller’s.
This was the culmination of a hard fought 10 match season that had it’s ups and downs with the highlight being the 6:1 away win at Torquay.
Many thanks to all 29 golfers that have represented their club with respect and honour in the campaign this year, you worked hard, fought the hard yards and are deserved winners
