🏏 CAVS WELCOME EXETER STRIKERS TO T&K! 🏏

What a lovely August evening at the Rec as the Cavendish Cavaliers CC welcomed the brilliant Exeter Strikers to Torquay & Kingskerswell CC for another fantastic evening of cricket. ☀️🏏

The Cavs won the toss and elected to field, but the Strikers got off to an absolute flyer! 🚀 Both opening batters retired on 25, putting the pressure firmly on the Cavs.

The Cavs bowling attack kept battling throughout. Father-and-daughter opening combination Flo and Chip bowled brilliantly and were unlucky not to get a wicket.

A huge welcome back to Biv, who produced a fantastic spell, while JP was excellent with his seam bowling. Ellie and Si C were both impressive with the ball, while Adam was arguably the fastest bowler of the night! ⚡

Rich M produced a brilliant wicket, before Toby W took an excellent three wickets. Behind the stumps, Dip was superb, keeping everything tidy and contributing brilliantly to the Cavs’ efforts.

Captain Darren concluded the bowling innings with a fine spell and a wicket in the final over. 👏

The Exeter Strikers finished on a very strong 152.

🔥 CAVS INNINGS 🔥

In reply, the father-and-son opening partnership of Toby W and Chris W got the Cavs’ reply off to a flying start.

Toby retired unbeaten on 20, while Chris continued his excellent progress with a fantastic personal best of 18! 🙌

Adam F also retired on 20, before Dip, Si C, JP, Biv, Chip and Rich all chipped in with fabulous, steady runs.

But one of the standout batting performances of the evening came from Flo R, who showed brilliant ability, stability and technique at the crease. 🏏👏

Despite a determined Cavs effort, Exeter Strikers proved just too strong, with the Cavs finishing 37 runs short.

As the light began to fade, the game became increasingly tight and challenging, but both teams continued to play in exactly the right spirit.

🏏 CAVS v EXETER SUNSET — SOCIAL CRICKET AT ITS VERY BEST! 🌅🍻

What a brilliant evening of cricket as the Cavendish Cavaliers travelled to the wonderful Exeter Sunset team for a fantastic game full of great cricket, friendship and plenty of laughs!

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Cavs top order of Budika, Si C, Will and Jules came out swinging, all retiring after brilliant knocks of 25. 💥

The middle order of Vikram and skipper Darren kept the momentum going, with Vikram also retiring on 25. Gareth and Toby W then came in at the finish and pushed the scoring rate even higher, taking the Cavs to an impressive 190/1 from their 18 overs. 🔥

Then came the Sunset reply…

WOW — what a start! 😮👏

Adam and Ellie opened the bowling, with Adam showing serious pace, accuracy and superb line and length, while Ellie claimed a brilliant wicket to get the Cavs rolling.

The Cavs then worked brilliantly as a solid unit in the field, backing each other up, taking their chances and keeping the pressure on. Sunset finished their 18 overs on 160/1, giving the Cavs a fantastic win. 🏆

But tonight, the scoreboard wasn’t really the most important thing.

The real winner was social cricket. ❤️🏏

Two wonderful teams celebrating the values, friendships and camaraderie that have been built and strengthened over the years. Sunset put on some absolutely brilliant pasties, the beers were flowing, and the conversation continued long after the cricket had finished. 🍻🥧😂

A huge thank you to Exeter Sunset for another brilliant evening. These are the games that remind us exactly why we play.

The Cavs are already looking forward to welcoming Sunset to Torquay & Kingskerswell next year! 💙🏏

Cavs Fall Just Short in Chudleigh Thriller 🏏💙

The Cavendish Cavaliers CC travelled to Chudleigh last night for another brilliant evening of cricket — and what a game it was!

🏏 Winning the toss, Captain Dave elected to field, with Will opening the bowling alongside George E, both producing excellent line and length. George E claimed the first wicket and the game was underway!

Toby W then grabbed the second wicket, while Simon C and his nephew Remy, making his Cavs debut, both showed excellent form. Richard and skipper Dave bowled brilliantly, before Darren claimed a superb wicket. Dip was excellent behind the stumps, and Ellie added two more wickets to round off a fantastic bowling and fielding performance.

Chudleigh finished on 136, setting the Cavs a solid target.

In reply, debutant Remy opened alongside Si C and immediately showed his class with two excellent fours. Will and Toby then came in and attacked brilliantly, both retiring on the maximum 25.

Rich, Darren and George E continued the charge, batting with great composure and keeping the Cavs firmly in the contest. Skipper Dave and Chris W came in at the end and found the boundaries, taking the Cavs to within touching distance…

But the Cavs ultimately finished just 7 runs short of victory. 💪

It was played in fantastic conditions, with grandparents, partners, parents and supporters all watching on and enjoying a brilliant evening of cricket.

A great game, a fantastic team effort and, most importantly, the spirit of cricket shone through from start to finish. ❤️🏏

🏏 CAVENDISH CAVALIERS CC — A BRILLIANT AUGUST DAY AT T&K! ☀️🏏

What a fantastic afternoon for the Cavendish Cavaliers, hosting our friends from Stoke Fleming CC at the amazing Torquay & Kingskerswell CC — sunshine, cricket and a brilliant atmosphere all round! 🌞🏏

After Stoke Fleming won the toss and asked the Cavs to field, Will and Dave opened the bowling, with Dave making the first breakthrough with a superb delivery. 🎯

Then came a fantastic all-round bowling and fielding performance from the Cavs.

⭐ Simon Cahill had one of his best games of the season, taking three wickets and two excellent catches.

⭐ Toby and Vickram both chipped in with wickets and some outstanding catches.

⭐ Leigh S, making his Cavs debut, couldn’t have wished for a better start — a wicket in his very first over! 👏

⭐ Chris R was excellent, claiming two important wickets.

And a special mention to Adam Field, making an excellent return to the Cavs. Adam bowled superbly and threw himself into the fielding with his trademark gusto! 💪

With everyone contributing, the Cavs worked hard to restrict Stoke Fleming to a very competitive 171.

🏏 CAVS RUN CHASE

In reply, openers Si and Leigh came out hard and fast, setting the tone for the chase.

Chris R and Darren then steadied things beautifully, keeping the scoreboard moving and the Cavs firmly in the hunt.

🌟 Will W had a brilliant game, top-scoring with an excellent 33 not out.

🔥 Vickram provided fantastic support with a valuable 29.

A special mention too for George E, batting in front of his grandmother! 👵🏏 George faced some tricky bowling, scored some important runs and kept the pressure firmly on Stoke Fleming.

And then, coming in at number 11 with a runner, Nick H showed real determination to find 5 valuable runs, taking the Cavs over the line to finish on 172! 🎉

🏆 CAVS WIN BY 1 WICKET! 🏆

What a game!

The biggest positive was the contribution from everyone. Runs, wickets, catches, bowling, fielding and plenty of encouragement — another brilliant Cavs team performance.

Huge thanks to Stoke Fleming CC for being excellent visitors and playing the game in such great spirit. 👏

And finally, a massive thank you to Phil for scoring and Willsie for umpiring. Without our wonderful volunteers, none of these games happen. ❤️🏏

🏏 Match Report | Cavendish Cavaliers CC vs Madri Boys 🏏

Another fantastic evening of social cricket saw the Cavendish Cavaliers take on the ever-welcoming Madri Boys in a game played in great spirit from first ball to last.

The Cavs were asked to field first and produced an excellent display. Jules got the breakthrough with a superb wicket, while Will W was simply outstanding, claiming three wickets with a brilliant spell of bowling. Toby and Flo both bowled with great control and were desperately unlucky not to add their names to the wicket column after going close on several occasions. The Madri Boys finished on a competitive 161.

In reply, club legends Simon and Jules opened the batting before Karma and Will both batted superbly to retire on 25. With the game entering its closing stages, the standout moment came in the final seven overs as Ellie and Flo showed tremendous composure and determination, batting through to the finish and guiding the Cavs to an impressive 116.

Will W’s all-round performance deserved special mention, but above all, cricket was the real winner. Huge thanks to the Madri Boys for being such fantastic hosts—we look forward to doing it all again soon!

🏏 Match Report | Cavendish Cavaliers CC vs Stokeinteignhead CC 🏏

The Cavendish Cavaliers were delighted to welcome good friends Stokeinteignhead CC to the picturesque home of Torquay & Kingskerswell CC for another fantastic evening of social cricket.

Captain Darren led the Cavs into the field against a strong and competitive Stokeinteignhead side, and the team responded with real determination. George was the pick of the bowlers, claiming an excellent three wickets, while Flo and Will bowled with great control. Simon Cahill enjoyed a superb all-round performance, combining excellent bowling with some outstanding catching in the field.

An early contender for the 🍾 Champagne Moment came from Dip, who produced a magnificent catch to dismiss Stokeinteignhead’s danger man and lift the whole team.

Chasing the target, Buddy and Toby batted brilliantly, showing great composure and positive intent as they kept the Cavs in the contest. Despite a spirited effort, the Cavendish Cavaliers just fell short of the total.

The result was secondary to another wonderful day of cricket, friendship and family. The Cavs’ spirit, sportsmanship and togetherness were there for all to see, once again proving that the Cavs Way is about far more than the scoreboard.

A huge thank you to Stokeinteignhead CC for a competitive game played in fantastic spirit, and to everyone who came along to support another brilliant day of grassroots cricket. 💙🏏

What a fantastic evening of cricket for the Cavendish Cavaliers as we travelled to our good friends at Harberton CC.

Captain Dave E won the toss and elected to bat, with Toby and Harry C opening the innings. Despite a few early wickets, Toby and Dave E steadied the ship with some sensible batting before Simon C played some excellent shots to help the Cavs post 87. On a challenging wicket, it proved to be a competitive total.

Harberton’s reply was equally entertaining. Chris R struck first with an early wicket, while Josh marked his Cavendish debut with a well-deserved wicket of his own. Toby W, Dave E, Simon C and George E all bowled superbly, keeping the pressure on throughout. JP delivered a fine over, Ellie produced a brilliant maiden over, and Budika was outstanding behind the stumps with an excellent wicket keeping display.

Harberton eventually edged home with just two overs remaining, but the result was secondary to another evening played in the true spirit of cricket. Great company, post-match drinks, fantastic sportsmanship and plenty of smiles made it a memorable fixture. Thank you to everyone at Harberton CC for your wonderful hospitality—we look forward to seeing you again soon!

🏏 Match Report | Cavendish Cavaliers CC vs Stokeinteignhead CC 🏏
The Cavendish Cavaliers enjoyed a fantastic evening of T20 cricket against our good friends from Stokeinteignhead CC, with the Cavs claiming a well-earned victory in a game played in great spirit.
Captain Dave E won the toss and elected to field first, handing a debut to Noah, who opened the bowling alongside Will. Both bowlers were outstanding, each claiming three wickets to put the Cavs firmly on the front foot.
The spin duo of Toby and Titch kept the pressure on throughout, slowing the run rate with some excellent spells, while skipper Dave E chipped in with two superb wickets of his own. Behind the stumps, Dippen was exceptional with the gloves, and Nick H, Ellie R and John P were outstanding in the field, saving valuable runs with their energy and commitment. Despite the Cavs’ excellent efforts, Stokeinteignhead posted a competitive 138 from their 20 overs.
In reply, openers Chris R and Chris W got the chase off to the perfect start, scoring quickly and laying a solid foundation. Dippen capped off a brilliant all-round performance with a superb 31 not out (retired), before Toby, Titch, Will, Nick and debutant Noah guided the Cavs home to a deserved victory.
After the match, both teams came together to celebrate not just a great game of cricket, but the values that make village cricket so special—teamwork, sportsmanship, respect and enjoyment.
A huge thank you also goes to Willsie, who did an excellent job standing as umpire.

🏏 Match Report | Cavendish Cavaliers CC vs Wednesday CC 🏏
On a beautiful evening at the stunning Ide Cricket Ground, the Cavendish Cavaliers took on a strong Wednesday CC side in a fantastic game played in exactly the right spirit.
After losing the toss, skipper Darren proudly led the team into the field. The Cavaliers produced an excellent all-round performance, with sharp fielding, disciplined bowling and great teamwork restricting Wednesday CC to 177.
Chasing 178, the Cavs got off to a flying start thanks to quick-fire 25s from Darren and Will W. Sir Gareth then played some excellent cricket, while Ellie Titch and Finn impressed with brilliant running between the wickets, keeping the scoreboard moving and the pressure on. The Cavaliers finished on a very respectable 151, showing determination and resilience throughout the innings.
Wednesday CC fielded an excellent side and deserved their victory, but both clubs can be immensely proud of the way the game was played. Respect, teamwork, friendship and sportsmanship were on display all evening—proof that cricket was the real winner tonight.
A huge thank you to Wednesday CC for a brilliant fixture and to everyone at Ide for providing such a wonderful setting for the game.

What a performance from the Cavendish Cavaliers away at Stoke Fleming today! 💙🏏
After winning the toss, skipper Dave elected to field first and led the side out with pride. Every single member of the Cavs put in an outstanding shift in the field, showing tremendous energy, commitment and teamwork to restrict a strong Stoke Fleming side to 214 from their 35 overs.
The Cavs’ reply was full of positive intent, with some superb batting, brilliant teamwork and plenty of entertaining stroke play. Despite a fantastic effort, the Cavs fell just short, finishing on 164 all out.
The scoreline doesn’t tell the full story. This was a performance full of heart, determination and togetherness against a very experienced Sunday side.
Cavs umpire Willsie summed it up perfectly:�“Stoke Fleming are a very experienced Sunday side but this was one of the best performances from the Cavs I have seen for some time.”
A huge thank you to Stoke Fleming for their hospitality and for a fantastic game played in the right spirit.
