The sun came out today for a close game as we welcomed Ilsington Villa 2nd for their first competitive league match.

Our first goal comes when Terry gets a shot away which the keeper parries and the weary traveller, Wardy, gets onto the end of it to break the dead lock and get our first goal of the season.

At half time, Sticks unfortunately can’t continue due to taken a knock to the head in the first half so Matty comes out of goalkeeper retirement and dons the gloves once more for the second half.

The opposition get a free kick outside our box which is delivered towards the back post. Everyone seemed to switch off at this point as an Ilsington player loops a header over the stand-in keeper to make it 1-1.

We get a free kick not far from the edge of the 18 yard box and the ever reliable Nathaniel stands over it. He smashes it home and makes it 2-1.

The boys do well to see out the game, with a few early injuries starting to sneak in, and everyone does what they need to do to ensure we come away with all 3 points.

Good luck to Ilsington for the rest of the season and we look forward to the second leg at your place.

The beginning!

2026/2027 starts tomorrow with a visit from Islington’s new chapter of their club! We faced this team in pre-season and we saw some handy young players coming through and showing they’re ready to fight for the step up to open age.

Looking forward to getting it up and going again after a long pre-season happening behind the scenes for the club.

Starting with a home match so hopefully get some good support for the game and then back to the John Bull afterwards!

🚨 MANAGER WANTED 🚨

Due to personal reasons, the club and Stephen Breed have mutually decided to make a change at the helm of our first team and will therefore be looking for a new first team manager for the coming season.

We’d like to place on record our sincere appreciation and gratitude for how Breedy helped the club in his season with us and getting us to a point so close to reaching promotion in our first season back in division one.

We have a good core of players which we would like to add to and we have a decent set up as a club with the future looking bright as we begin our pathway on the Home Advantage Programme.

Players wanted to strengthen for the coming season to compete in division one of the South Devon Football League. We also have a second team competing in division four who are open to players.

Training for both our first and second teams, 18:30-20:00 at Barton Downs every Wednesday 🏃
