It's great to see so many people out on their boards at the moment. I was having a conversation with someone about how to tell when it's going to be choppy and how we can change our paddling to help.
So firstly when does it get choppy?
We all know that when it gets windy it can get choppy and this depends on the wind speed, But knowing when it will change is helpful.
The choppyness and it's severity comes hand in hand with the tide. So if the wind and tide are going the same way it won't be that bad,( windspeed dependant)
But it really picks up when they are opposed, so if we have an off shore wind with a rising tide, or if we have an on shore wind with a dropping tide.
