Calling all paddleboarders!
So many of the shouts the RNLI have been called out to on the past 12 months have involved paddleboarders caught up in unexpected difficulties. And so often the reasons are simple and predictable, like hazardous off-shore winds, or changing tidal currents. So, we are teaming up with WESUP to share our knowledge on water safety with as many paddleboarders we can possibly gather, in our beautiful Torbay.
It’s also a great reason to bring together paddleboarders from across the region in a celebration of the sport. And to break a world record. It will be fun as well as educational. Paddleboard instructors will be on hand to answer questions on technique, the RNLI will provide information on water safety, and you can share adventures and discover secret new places to visit with fellow paddleboarders who know the area.
Weather permitting, it will involve different setting-off points and distances to paddleboard around Torbay. We will start 8:00am off Abbey Sands and collect more paddleboarders at later starting points on the way round to Brixham’s Fishcombe cove, where we aim to bring together over 1,000, and perhaps smash the world record. Choose and book your preferred starting point and time. For more details, visit Facebook/paddleparade
Tickets for the day cost £15.
Book as soon as possible. The different starting points are filling up fast!
All profits are being donated to RNLI Torbay who are co-hosting the event.
