Another milestone has been reached in the development of our new shooting ground. The temporary car park is now in place, and the field has been ploughed and re-seeded. 💪

It’s great to see the project continuing to take shape, and we’re looking forward to watching the area establish over the coming weeks. A huge thank you to David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and York and North Yorkshire combined authorities and North Yorkshire Sport for helping fund this project. Also a big thank you to everyone who has contributed their time and effort so far.

🏹 What a fantastic weekend at Thirsk Bowmen! 🏹

We were delighted to host the YAA L*z Newsome Memorial Day alongside the YAA Senior and Junior Championships. It was wonderful to welcome archers from across the county for a day of great shooting, friendly competition, and plenty of smiles.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and to all of the winners and medalists. The standard of shooting was excellent throughout the day, and it was great to see archers of all ages enjoying the event.

Our junior archers especially enjoyed the lunchtime "One Arrow Lucky Shot" challenge, with one lucky winner taking home a £50 Amazon voucher! It added a bit of extra fun and excitement to an already memorable day.

Thank you to all the competitors, volunteers, judges, organisers, and supporters who helped make the event such a success. Also a huge thank you to all the members and members partners for providing delicious food and drinks throughout the day. We hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Exciting times for Thirsk Bowmen. We have recently purchased our own field with the help of incredible members. With further support of members and North Yorkshire sport we are developing the field into a fully accessible and inclusive facility. Here is some footage after the first week..
