Tonbridge Cricket Club

With a proud history, we are the longest established cricket club in Tonbridge. On Saturdays the club competes in the Kent Cricket League.

Our secluded ground is large compared to many and, coupled with our new pavilion, offers superb facilities to club members and visitors alike. There are few finer places to enjoy the final stages of a cricket match than at our ground bathed in the early evening sunshine! Our first XI playing in Division VI and the second XI play in the 2nd XI Division VI On Sundays we play friendly matches under the banner of Tonbridge Exiles CC. The club boasts a thriving junior section, with Under 11, Under 13, and Under 15 sides. The Under 15 side together with Castle Hill won the Invicta Cricket League Premier League last season. Anyone interested in playing for Tonbridge CC should contact us, give us a call or simply come down to any of our matches at our Welland Road ground. Weather permitting there are matches every Saturday afternoon between the end of April and September. We have a large number of social members, many of whom are former players, friends, their families and spectators. All members and their guests are welcome to enjoy matches from the comfort of the fine pavilion and make use of the facilities.

That's a wrap. Season 2026 is now over.

Last weekend saw our 1st XI lose to finish 6th in Division 5:Spitfire, whilst the 2nd XI got that all important win to remain in Division 8:Ealham, finishing 7th.

The 1st XI unfortunately dropped both openers early and were made to pay. An excellent bowling display from Maximus Petrie as usual, but also Evan Snow who picked up maiden wickets for the first eleven. Max and Tom Beswick batted well in the reply but were the only two to reach double figures. Congratulations to Frindsbury Cricket Club who are promoted to Division 4 next year.

Our 2nd XI managed to escape relegation with an excellent seven wicket win that secured their place in the same league for 2027. Early drops in the field also threatened to derail their day, but strong spin bowling displays from John Tuscano, Stefan Ronan and Alfie Helyar helped minimise the damage. In our reply, Steve Willcox hit an excellent 50, but the innings belonged to Ben Morgan who hit a brutal 89.

A more formal wrap up for the season will follow in the coming week or so. A huge thanks to everyone who has represented the club on the field in 2026. Preparation begins today for 2027.

And just like that, we reach the final league game of the season. It feels like the previous 17 have gone by in a flash.

The 1st XI aren't battling for promotion or to stay up, but there are some good player battles to come today. Tom Beswick Vs Max Petrie for top run scorer, and the brothers Khurram and Nadeem Shehzad hoping to haul in Petrie with a mega haul of wickets.

The 2nd XI, on the other hand, might need to win today to stay in Division 8:Ealham. Currently in eighth place, four points clear of safety with twenty points awarded for a win. Nick Helyar leads the way in runs scored, with Mark Stokes, Steve Willcox and Stef Ronan all close enough to battle for the award. With the ball, John Tuscano looks clear, but Ronan and Ethan Lottering could battle for top wicket taker with something special.

We enter the final week of the season.

After the washout last weekend, it leaves just one league game left for both sides, and there are sizeable implications in both matches. The 1st XI host top of the table Frindsbury Cricket Club who are looking for a win to get promoted to Division 4. Meanwhile, the 2nd XI sit in 8th and know that a win at Staplehurst Cricket Club will keep them up.

The penultimate league game of the season is here.

The 1st XI look to continue their fine run of form as they travel to OD CUACO CC whilst the 2nd XI continued their push for survival against Cowdrey Cricket Club.

The weather forecast doesn't look great at the moment, but hopefully it clears a bit so we can get some cricket in.

For only the second time this season we celebrated a double win for our senior sides last Saturday. We also saw a defeat with plenty of positives on Sunday.

The 1st XI made it three wins in a row as they won in a nail biting win against Orpington, prevailing by a single run. and Chirag Patel all top scored with 26 each, but 153 certainly looked under par.

Early wickets in bunches took the visitors total at one point to 19 for 4, but Orpington battled back well. A succession of excellent catches in the field and a great stumping off the final ball game Tonbridge an excellent win.

The 2nd XI had to win against 8th placed Offham, and obliged with a 5 wicket win with an over to spare. The home side got off to a solid start, but the introduction of John Tuscano really change the game as he removed batsman 2, 3 and 4, helping to reduce the run rate. Late wickets for Martin Batley, as well as an excellent spell from .prendergast_ meant that Tonbridge were chasing a score beginning with a 1 rather than a 2.

In the chase, Mark Stokes looked fluent with the blade, but it was Stefan Ronan who top scored with an excellent 61. When he was dismissed, captain and .17 picked up from where he left off, exchanging boundary shots with quick singles, and helping us over the finishing line.

Sunday's game saw some excellent performances from our youngsters, including Ethan Lottering, Ryan Carne-Ross and Alfie Helyar. Playing most of the game with nine players, everyone who played did the club proud in a great game with Snodland Community.

We have another Sunday friendly.

Today we travel to for a friendly match starting at 1pm. Its a very youthful looking side with many of our Under 15s making the step up to senior cricket. Good luck to all those playing.

Our teams for today.

The 1st XI hand debuts to Ed Howes, Sam Cunningham and Under 15 Alfie Helyar as they welcome Orpington. The 2nd welcome back skipper Nick Helyar in a must win game against Offham.

A few of our award winners from coaching week which finished yesterday.

With just an Under 9s tournament remaining on Sunday, we are almost at the end of another junior season at Tonbridge. As always, it has been a pleasure to welcome so many boys and girls along to training on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. On top of this there have been over 90 matches, as well as a number of tournaments. It is a full on job, but we are fortunate to have so many willing participants who put in the work throughout the year.

We move into the final three games of the season.

The 1st XI have showed strong recent form to sit in a safe mid table position and face Orpington Cricket Club on Saturday. The 2nd XI are currently 9th and will need a win against 8th placed Offham CC to aid their chances of survival.

Two wins from three from our senior sides at the weekend.

A great win for the 1st XI away at Bickley Park saw us hit our highest score of the year, and then defending it well right until the very end. Couple of excellent all round performances from Chirag Patel, Maximus Petrie and as well as the forever consistent Nadeem Shehzad with the ball.

The 2nd XI lost narrowly by two wickets against promotion pushing Linton Park. Steve Willcox and Jake Rossiter got us off to a great start, and excellent contributions from .17 and in the middle order along with Ben Morgan saw us post 174. An excellent start with the ball, along with good catches ans ground fielding took us to the brink of victory, but it wasn't to be. followed up his strong batting with the best bowling figures as well as an incredible one handed catch early in the innings.

A rare Sunday game was enjoyed, and it saw two debut Tonbridge tons from both Al Hughes and Steve Willcox. Chevening weren't able to get close to our total of 270 from 35 overs, but the game was played in the right spirit.
