๐ Hot Weather Warning & Water Safety Reminder ๐
With temperatures set to rise over the weekend and continue into next week, and with most young people now finishing their GCSEs and A-Levels, many will be heading out to enjoy some well-earned freedom with friends.
Whether it's exploring local beauty spots, parks, rivers, lakes, quarries, or the coast, please take a moment to speak to your children about the dangers of swimming in open water, especially in areas that are not lifeguarded.
Open water can be far more dangerous than it appears. Hidden currents, sudden drops, cold water shock, underwater hazards, and deep mud can quickly turn a fun day out into a tragedy.
Please encourage your children to:
โ
Only swim at lifeguarded locations where possible.
โ
Never enter the water alone.
โ
Avoid jumping into unknown water.
โ
Stay away from reservoirs, quarries, and other dangerous inland waters.
โ
Look out for their friends and know what to do in an emergency.
โ
Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if someone is in trouble at the coast.
Let's all enjoy the sunshine safely and make sure our young people return home after their adventures.
๐ A conversation today could save a life tomorrow.
