Result in from our Women’s team and Match report
Our first league game of the season produced plenty of drama as we fought back from 3–1 down to earn a deserved point at home against Anchorians.
We started strongly, dominated possession, and took an early lead. A superb throw from Tilly Lewis found Blue inside the box, and she finished smartly to make it 1–0.
We kept the pressure up and came close to extending our lead. Maisie’s excellent free kick struck the crossbar, while Maddie forced a good save from the Anchorians goalkeeper.
A momentary lapse in concentration allowed Anchorians through our defensive line to equalise. From there, we struggled to rediscover our rhythm, with slow reactions and too much chaos as the first half ended scrappily at 1–1.
That continued for the opening 10 to 15 minutes of the second half, and Anchorians took advantage of a mix-up from a corner to move ahead. As we began to regain momentum, they struck again to make it 3–1 with fewer than ten minutes remaining.
However, the game was far from over. Jas, Katie and Ellie made a real impact from the bench, helping us change the momentum. We stayed calm, pushed Anchorians onto the back foot and produced our best football of the match when it mattered most.
In the 90th minute, a superb through ball from Alice found Blue, who finished to reduce the deficit to 3–2. Immediately after the restart, we regained possession and went again. The goalkeeper fumbled Alice’s long-range effort, and Blue was perfectly placed to pounce, completing her first senior hat-trick with another composed finish.
Those final ten minutes proved what this team can produce. Our challenge now is to capture that intensity and belief from the opening whistle next week against Peters Village.

A point gained through determination, belief and a refusal to give up. More of that positive football next week, in a game we can win and use to lay down an early marker in the league.
