Course Update- Saturday 10th January at 2.30pm-

The greens are still frozen and with minus temperatures expected overnight, the clubhouse and course will remain closed on Sunday 11th January and for the first part of Monday until we can do an early course inspection and then send out an update accordingly.

Thank you for your understanding.

The Clubhouse and course will remain closed on Saturday 10th January.

Whilst the snow has now cleared and everything, on the face of it looks clear and playable, the reality is that the top 2cm of the greens has currently defrosted and everything below that remains frozen solid. This means that small top surface is saturated in water, so that water forms around your feet as you walk on them, making putting impossible.

The greens are made of a sand/soil composition which allows free drainage through most conditions. However, what this also means is that when the ground freezes, the greens become like a single block of ice, soil particles solidly locked together which then takes a lot longer than “normal soil” to defrost – which is what we need to happen so that the water will drain off the surface and allow play.

The temperatures are starting to come up and there will be another inspection of the course on Saturday to review the position.

Thank you for your patience and we hope to have the course back open again very shortly.

Course Update Friday 9th January-

After a course inspection this morning, it has been decided that we will remain closed today- Friday 9th January.

The rain overnight has left us with sitting water on the greens with the layers beneath still frozen. This combination continues to make the greens unplayable and any walking on them will cause a lot of damage.
We will send out a further update as soon as available.

Thank you for your understanding of our decisions during these conditions.

Course Update at 10am Thursday 8th January-

After a course inspection this morning, it has been decided that we will remain closed today- Thursday 8th Jan and for the first part of Friday morning where we will again review the course first thing and update accordingly once a decision has been made.

Overnight the puddles that were sitting on the greens have frozen making them unplayable plus walking on the greens in these conditions will cause a lot of damage.
Thank you for your understanding of our decisions during these cold conditions.

The clubhouse will be open and the Kitchen open 10am - 3pm.

Any questions please call the club on 01525 876556 and we will post the next update as soon as we have it from the Greenstaff Friday morning.

Course Update at 11.30am Wednesday 7th January-

The surface layer on the greens have thawed however, due to the deeper layers being frozen solid, the water is now sitting water, creating puddles on the greens. This making them unable to putt on plus walking on them will cause damage.

The forecast is an uncertain one as to whether the predicted storm will bring rain or snow. Snow may cause the sitting water to re-freeze. Rain and temperatures above freezing may help to them thaw but again may also increase the amount of sitting water.
Therefore, we are keeping the course closed for the rest of today (Wednesday 7th) and for the first part of Thursday 8th and upon inspection from the Greenstaff in the morning we will post an update to confirm if the course is playable and we are able to re-open.

The clubhouse will be open and the Kitchen open 10am - 3pm.

Any questions please call the club on 01525 876556 and we will post the next update as soon as we have it from the Greenstaff.

Course Update at 2.30pm Tuesday 6th January-

Well today has brought us snow!
Just what we didn't need on top of the already frozen solid greens.
Due to this we will keep the course closed to start the day on Wednesday but will review Wednesday- mid morning and send out a further update confirming if we are able to open some or all of the course depending on whether the predicted rain we have forecast overnight helps to clear the greens at all making them playable.

The clubhouse will be open and the Kitchen open 10am - 3pm.

Any questions please call the club on 01525 876556 and we will post the next update as soon as we have it from the Greenstaff.

The Kitchen will not be open on Tuesday.
