❤️ If you can, please support both of my truly inspiring personal training clients and this amazing cause. ❤️
When on holiday on the Greek island of Corfu in 2024, Mark got rushed to hospital with difficultly breathing and a racing heart rate. He was told he was in heart failure and that his heart needed to be re-started to get back into a normal rhythm. After this he would also require a heart value replacement. The island was not able to offer this treatment, so he was medically evacuated to Athens.
Luckily re-starting his heart meant that under medical supervision he was able to fly back to the uk where he had surgery in Bristol to replace his heart valve.
Fast forward to today and Mark has made an amazing full recovery, he’s back training in the gym and looking and feeling stronger than ever 💪🏼💪🏼 .
To give back the British Heart Foundation and to showcase that you really can get back to normal life after heart surgery, Mark is taking on an epic challenge. 500 reps of chest press at 52kg in an 1 hour (totalling a massive 26 tonnes - which is the equivalent of 2 London double decker buses. This amazing challenge will take place on the 1st April 2026 at Active Mid Devon.
Mark has been training for this since the beginning of the year and pardon the pun but has really put his heart and soul into it.
To help support this fantastic cause (and hopefully raise a bit more money), Marks daughter will also be running the 26.2 miles in the London marathon on the 26th April 2026.
She will be running her longest training run (32km) on the same day 1st April also at mid Devon whilst Mark completes does his weight lifting challenge.
The BHF have already helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.
