Pentland Canoe Club and Caithness Beach Cleans joined forces for the Big Paddle Clean Up - lifting 281Kg of rubbish from the East Caithness coastline. Teamwork making a real difference.
Since 2018 we have removed over 4500Kg of rubbish from the Caithness & North Sutherland shores

A fantastic team effort from everyone involved!

Working alongside Caithness Beach Cleans, members of Pentland Canoe Club joined the and tackled a stretch of the East Caithness coastline just north of Latheron. Club members paddled in and collected the plastic waste Caithness Beach Cleans hoisted the load up from the shore to the cliff top.

Together, the teams lifted an incredible 281 kg (620 lbs) of rubbish off the shoreline. Alongside the usual plastic bottles and rope, this year’s haul included 3 tyres, 14 creels, and even a plastic toy car. A brilliant joint effort.

Since 2018, the Club estimates that we’ve removed over 4,500 kg of rubbish from the Caithness and North Sutherland coastline — a huge achievement for our paddlers

If you know of hard to reach beaches around Caithness that are particularly badly affected by waste, please let us know so we can include them in a future beach clean.
