Really excited for today’s Testing!
Throughout the years, I’ve seen students react to a test day in so many different ways.
Some are filled with excitement, some are anxious and some don’t appear to be fazed in the slightest.
My biggest takeaway from this is that all of these ways are 100% valid.
We all deal with challenges and pressure in different ways, so for me to be the best coach I can be, I have to step back a little and not judge a student’s performance on how they cope with pressure compared to how I or any other students deals with it. They are a completely unique person, so I need to ask myself “Is this the very best this student can do at this point in time” if the answer is “Yes” then we move onto the technical side of things.
Bare in mind, this does not mean a student has a “free ride” and breezes through belts. There are still certain criteria that needs to be met as closely as possible for said student, as it is an educational experience.
Sometimes, “Failing” a student is the best thing that could of happened to them. To easily pass a student can rob them of important life lessons.
As we’ve been discussing this past month about “Progress”. Even a step back doesn’t mean you’re back where you started. It’s one of the most important moments in progression.
So my (long drawn out) message to our students today is this:
No matter what to do today, as long as you’re giving your very best with what you’ve got right now, you’re still making Progress!
