📼 FTCC… but make it 1987. 😎🏏

We’ve seen Stuart Broad and the Stick to Cricket crew embracing the full 80s makeover on the podcast… so naturally, FTCC had to get involved.

The results are quite something. 😂

🔥 Shell suits visible from neighbouring villages
🕶️ Sunglasses of highly questionable taste
💗 Sweatbands everywhere
💜 Enough neon to illuminate the Priory Ground
🏏 Absolutely no loss of cricketing credibility whatsoever*

Special mention to Boss and Mel, who required no AI assistance at all — they simply selected genuine outfits from their own extensive 1980s collections. 😂😂

For everyone else, a little technological assistance was required.

Some have taken to the look worryingly well. Others appear to be auditioning for a VHS entitled Aerobics for Cricketers: Volume 2.

So… who wore it best? 👀👇

🏏 MISSION COMPLETE! 🌱

The wicket restoration at The Priory Ground is officially finished — and it’s been some effort! 💪

🚜 The hole left by the removal of the old astroturf has been backfilled with over 14 TONNES of soil, creating what will become an additional grass wicket.

🌱 A further 8 TONNES has been spread across the remaining 13 wickets, before the entire square was seeded, drag matted and fenced off to give the new surface the best possible start.

And nothing went to waste…

🪣 All the surplus soil was then moved by hand across the ground to help take out some of the undulations in the outfield.

That’s 22+ tonnes of soil shifted during the project! 😮‍💨

🦌 Unfortunately, the local roe deer appear to have mistaken our newly renovated square for their own private dining room… they’ve already been over for an inspection! 😂

👏 A HUGE effort from Colin and Crowey, who have put in some serious graft shifting an incredible amount of soil and getting the ground ready for its next chapter.

Now we water it, nurture it… and wait. 🌱☀️

Roll on the 2027 season. We can’t wait to see the first ball bowled on it! 🏏💙💛

🏏 WICKET RESTORATION | DAY 2 🌱

Things got serious at the Priory Ground today! 👀

Day 2 of our wicket restoration saw the square undergo Koroing – stripping away the old surface vegetation and thatch to give us a clean base ready for the next stages of renovation.

It might look a little brutal right now… 😬 but it’s all part of the plan to produce a stronger, healthier and better-performing square for the 2027 season. 🌱🏏

A huge thank you to Mike from Larch Groundwork Ltd for all his hard work and expertise so far. 👏 The transformation is well and truly underway!

Next up… 24 tonnes of loam, seed and the start of the rebuild. 💪🌱

🏏 THE WORK STARTS NOW… 🌱

The 2026 season might only just be behind us, but preparations for 2027 are already well underway at the Priory Ground! 💪

Today marked the start of a major programme of work to improve our square and outfield — and Phase 1 began with the removal of our ageing artificial wicket.

Once removed, the area will be backfilled and transformed into an additional grass wicket, giving us even more options on the square in seasons to come. 🌱🏏

And that’s just the start…

🚜 Next up, the square will undergo Koroing — stripping away the surface vegetation and accumulated thatch to provide a clean base for renovation.

Then comes the small matter of…

🟫 24 TONNES OF LOAM! 😳

That will be spread across the square before the whole area is seeded, giving the new grass the best possible start ahead of the 2027 season.

And, as ever, nothing goes to waste at FTCC! ♻️

Colin and Crowey are putting the spoil from the artificial wicket removal to good use, helping to level some of the uneven areas of the outfield at the same time.

There’s a huge amount of work ahead over the coming days and weeks, but it’s all about continuing to improve the Priory Ground for the players of today — and those still to come.

🏆 OUR 2026 PRIZE WINNERS! 🏆

Last Sunday we brought the curtain down on another fantastic season at Fiskerton & Thurgarton CC with our annual Awards Evening. 🏏🥂

It was a brilliant night celebrating the players, performances and people who made the 2026 season one to remember — both on and off the pitch. 💙

From runs and wickets to breakthrough performances, team contributions and those who went above and beyond for the club, there was plenty to celebrate. 👏

🏏 2ND XI HIGHLIGHTS | FTCC v LOWDHAM CC 🎥

The highlights are in from the 2nd XI’s home clash with Lowdham at the Priory Ground.

Lowdham posted 211 all out, but there was one standout performance with the ball… 🔥

⭐ Shiv Odedara – 5/25 from 9 overs ⭐

A superb spell from Shiv, ripping through the Lowdham batting order to claim a brilliant five-fer. 👏👏

Darren Wright also impressed with 2/20 from 8.3 overs, as FTCC fought hard to bowl the visitors out.

Unfortunately, 211 proved a step too far with the bat, FTCC dismissed for 138 as Lowdham took the win by 73 runs.

Not the result we wanted, but plenty to enjoy in the highlights — particularly a bowling masterclass from Shiv! 🎯🏏

Cricket at The Priory Ground isn’t just for the players… our four-legged supporters are a very important part of the F&TCC family too! 🐶💙

Whether they’re watching every ball, patrolling the boundary, waiting hopefully for a dropped bit of tea 🍔👀 or simply finding the perfect sunny spot for an afternoon snooze… they’re always welcome at the Priory! ☀️🐕

🚨 THE FIGHT GOES TO THE FINAL DAY! 🚨

A massive result for the 1st XI yesterday, keeping the battle for Division B survival alive right to the very last game of the season. 🏏🔥

At home to Kirkby Portland, the visitors posted 166 all out, with Ethan Wright taking 5️⃣ wickets and Aaron Singh and Ben Turner picking up two apiece.

In reply, Mark Davis anchored the chase with a superb unbeaten 74, ably supported by Anthony Barrowcliffe (32), as F&TCC reached 167/5 to win by 5 wickets. 💪

A crucial 20 points — and it means the relegation battle goes right down to the final Saturday. 👀

Unfortunately, it was a much tougher afternoon for the 2nd XI, who were bowled out for 89 against Balderton. Ben Smith top-scored with an unbeaten 44*, with Alister Taylor adding 23.

Balderton chased the target for the loss of just one wicket, leaving the 2s firmly in their own relegation dogfight.

So here we are…

🏏 FRIDAY NIGHT SOFTBALL SHOWDOWN! 🏏

What a fantastic Friday night at the club! 🙌

Our Women’s Softball squad took on the recently formed Men’s Social Softball Team for an evening of fun, competitive cricket — and it certainly didn’t disappoint! 💥

Players of all ages got involved, with plenty of runs, wickets, big hits and friendly rivalry as the two sides went head-to-head. 🏏🔥

Exactly what club cricket is all about — people coming together, enjoying the game and having a brilliant time along the way. 💙💛

A huge thank you to everyone who played, supported and helped make it such an enjoyable evening.
