Over on my sister page FORGE Livery I have been sharing a monthly reel of what we’ve been up to. I would love to do the same for the the horsebox.

If you’ve hired the box recently please send me some photos on messenger and I can can put other a reel for 2026 so far.

Last minute hire available for this Sunday!!!

I think the majority of hirers do read through all the information available on the website but occasionally it is a last minute booking, or completed in a hurry and we can run into a few problems.

So whilst this doesn’t happen very often but I just wanted to flag up a few important requirements of the insurance policy.

Drivers must be aged between 22 and 75 years. Some policies are for drivers aged 25-70 so if you’ve hired from FORGE previously please don’t assume the next company you try will be ok - check their website because the wider age range does cost more to insure and they might have chosen not to offer this. (This is not an attempt to say “please only use me” as I know that there are some other great companies to hire from and that some people travel a long way to hire from me so of course they might go elsewhere if somebody closer by starts trading, or backside they need a date I don’t have available).

On that note - I have asked the insurers previously to hire to drivers just shy of the age restrictions and they said they would only cover these drivers for an additional fe PER HIRE. So if whilst not impossible it is going to add to the cost and you might find that it’s cheaper to find a horse transporter.

The excess on the policy in the event of a claim is £500. However, drivers aged 22-24 are deemed to be higher risk and these drivers must pay additional £200 excess if a claim on the insurance policy is made.

Drivers must have had two years UK driving experience. Please check the date on the front of your pink photo card licence.

I cannot accept overseas drivers licenses. Because of the law around drivers who have passed their test in other countries, overseas drivers must also hold a UK drivers license if they have been driving in the UK for two years.

There are restrictions on the amount and type of points on a drivers license. Typically 6 points is ok but some driving convictions are excluded. This is why it is important that drivers provide a check code so that I can look at the codes for any endorsements.

This doesn’t come up very often due to driver age restrictions, but undergraduate students are not covered by the policy. A small number of other obscure occupations are not covered either.

How many people who have hired the FORGE horsebox remember Calleigh? She worked weekends on the yard for 18 months and will have met many customers in that time to handover the box or take the keys back at the end of the hire. Calleigh also did her work placement hours with us for her college course in year 2.

Well guess who is part of the winning team for the university horseball league?

Huge well done to you Calleigh. Always a keen and brave horsewoman, and now you are willingly dangling upside down off a horse, the exact position most of us aim to NOT do on a daily basis.

Sunday 3rd May is re-available to book online. 3.5 t box which can be driven on a car license (and is really easy to drive). Drivers must be aged 22-75 and have two years UK driving experience.
