Friday saw the final ever East Essex Sabres awards night take place. Alongside those receiving traditional awards, the Sabres also honoured those who have made a significant impact on the club over it's 8 year tenure.

The Sabres wish to take a moment to thank everyone who has left a positive mark on the club and all those who have come out to support us along the way.

We are now looking ahead to our rebirth as the Essex Tridents for the 2024 season and hope you will all stay with us for this exciting new development.

The awards for the night were as follows:

The desire for any American Football Team is to become better on and off the field to showcase the sport that we love. Over the past couple of years, success has come and gone, along with players and coaches alike.

Ensuring there are enough fit players to be competitive throughout a Britball season has been too much of a challenge to produce consistent long-term success, which allowed us to open negotiations between ourselves and the Essex Spartans. From the end of November 2023 , the East Essex Sabres and the Essex Spartans have decided, in order to succeed, old rivalries will be put to bed, and a new brotherhood will be born.

Over the last two months, we and the Essex Spartans have worked tirelessly together in preparing both teams for a smooth transition, which has secured the green light from BAFA to proceed with this venture. This has allowed both teams to join together to offer a higher level of coaching, competitiveness and community under the new banner:

The Essex Tridents

As a collective, the one thing we have always agreed on is that we want to win, be competitive, and build an infrastructure to grow the sport within the county. We feel that pooling the resources and rosters from both clubs gives us that very opportunity.

Although our run as the East Essex Sabres has been a challenging one in terms of consistent success, we are proud of the family we have become with players, coaches and fans alike. We hope you will all welcome our Spartans colleagues with open arms as we take the next step in our
evolution.

Thank you for being part of the Sabres Pride, the hunt is now over. Its time for the Tridents to become a force in Britball and bring some success back to our county.

Just two more rookie sessions to go! If you're looking for a new sport, come and give American football a go. Our sessions require no previous experience and are open to everyone 18+.

Beyond our rookie days, we are also looking for coaches to help take the Sabres to the next level. If you have a level 1 coaching qualification or above, please get in touch with us.

🏈Looking forward to this weekends first London game of the season? Football doesn't have to end at the whistle, as we now have our adult rookie dates confirmed! (youth dates to be confirmed soon)! 🏈

Whether you're just looking to try something new, or already know your way around the gridiron, we invite you to come down and get involved.

These sessions will be a fun and relaxed introduction to the sport and are a great way to get to know the team and experience the Sabres culture first-hand.

🏈 It's not too late to get involved in preparation for the 2024 season. If you are a rookie looking to start your journey into American Football, we have 2 more rookie camps lined up that are still available to attend. Experienced players that are new to the Sabres, or are returning to the sport are also more than welcome to join these sessions.

📢 We have coaching vacancies and are looking for multiple skilled coaches to join the Sabres staff. Please DM us with your coaching qualifications and experience (please note, a level 1 coaching qualification is required at minimum).
