We have a 1st X1, 2nd X1, Midweek X1, thriving fledgling junior teams and are working on a ladies side. A great way to end the season for Ali Coe and TCC 2nd XI.

In their final fixture of the campaign, Threlkeld CC 2nds signed off with a win and with it, a third place finish in their debut season in the Eden Valley Cricket League. A brilliant achievement for a side that has grown week on week throughout the year.

Caldbeck won the toss and elected to bat. The Foxes bowled with real control from the off. Webster struck twice early to reduce Caldbeck to 10-2, and Armstrong and Howe kept up the pressure, each taking 2 wickets. Neesham also chipped in as wickets fell regularly. S Wetherell showed some fight for the visitors with an unbeaten 26, but Caldbeck were restricted to 94-7 from their 24 overs.

Chasing 95, Threlkeld played with control. The ever consistent M Webster (16) and K Potts set the platform, with Potts retiring on a fine 33 that included 5 fours and a six. Armstrong (20*) and Morland (11*) chased down the total in the 22nd over with 6 wickets in hand.

A fine team performance to end what has been a memorable first season in the league. Third place, hard-fought batting and bowling points throughout, and a squad that has shown real character from start to finish.

Thanks to Caldbeck for playing the game in great spirits and we look forward to next season.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored a player this season. It really does help the club provide a packed cricket schedule, from equipment, to keeping the clubhouse running, and everything in between.

It's been an incredible season at TCC. The clubhouse has never been busier, participation has grown across all sides, and there have been some very memorable moments on the field.

Thank you to the coaches, volunteers, parents, committee members, groundskeepers, and players for everything you've put in this season. TCC wouldn't exist without this collective effort.

A confident performance from the Foxes 2s to end the weekend on a high.

Threlkeld won the toss and elected to bat. Webster got things off to a flying start with 31 from just 23 balls before falling to Wood. Then Howson and Armstrong took centre stage. Howson was patience, retiring for his first 50* to anchor the innings and gave the side a solid platform throughout. Armstrong was explosive, retiring for his first 50*, moving the scoreboard onto a competitive total. Lewis chipped in with 18, and Potts (16*) and Tripney (8*) seen Threlkeld close on 199-3 from their 36 overs.

With 200 to defend, Threlkeld bowled with real purpose. Neesham struck early with 2 wickets, and Webster was excellent with the ball, taking 3. Armstrong continued his fine day with 3 wickets, and Tripney chipped in with 2. Caldbeck were bowled out for 140 in 26th over, handing Threlkeld a 59-run victory.

We would like to thank Caldbeck CC for being great hosts and playing the game in the right spirit.

Lanercost CC won the toss and elected to bat. The Foxes bowled with discipline throughout, on a good track. Mitchelson was the danger man for the visitors, striking 84 and threatening to take the game away from Threlkeld. Lihou got a crucial run out, then followed on to pick up 3 wickets to keep the Foxes in the contest. Thompson, Raven, and Winter took a wicket apiece. Lanercost closed on 277-7.

Chasing, Threlkeld were in the hunt for a long time. Lihou at the top of the order, made 42 and laid the foundation. Jefferson (42) and Dunn (31) put on a partnership inching Threlkeld closer. With 15 overs remaining, the game was still alive, with Threlkeld needing around 9 an over. But Coulthard, having already made his mark with the bat, returned with the ball to devastating effect a remarkable 5 wickets for just 6 runs from 3 overs; ending the contest in a flash. Threlkeld finished on 170, taking 2 points for their efforts.

A good game of cricket, played in great spirit. Congratulations to Lanercost CC on a fine performance and we look forward to going again next season.

Dickie’s Destroyers Edge Tripp’s Tailenders in Last-Ball Thriller

End-of-Season Midweek Foxes Intra-Club Friendly
Dickie’s Destroyers 150/8 beat Tripp’s Tailenders 149/7 by 3 wickets

What a way to finish the Midweek Foxes season!

The end-of-season intra-club friendly between Dickie’s Destroyers and Tripp’s Tailenders produced everything you could want from a game of cricket — plenty of runs, wickets, big hits, questionable fielding, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, a finish that went right down to the very last ball.

Tripp’s Tailenders, represented by the Threlkeld CC Academy, batted first and posted an excellent 149/7 from their 20 overs. There were some impressive contributions throughout the order, with Kieran Rickerby retiring not out for 30 and J Tripney also retiring not out for 30.

Henry Hughes stood out with both bat and ball to earn the Player of the Match award for the Tailenders.

The Destroyers' reply was equally entertaining, with J Watters retiring not out for 34 and B Jefferson retiring not out for 33, helping keep the Destroyers firmly in the hunt.

Jo Johnson showed her newfound form with the bat, scoring freely before also picking up a wicket, earning her the Player of the Match award for Dickie’s Destroyers.

With the game finely poised going into the final over, it looked as though the Tailenders might just hold on.

Then came the moment that will probably be talked about for years.

With the match going down to the last ball, Michael Webster delivered a no-ball which was struck towards the boundary. Kieran Rickerby got hands to it but couldn't quite hold on, allowing the ball to reach the rope.

Five runs from the delivery. Game over. Destroyers win.

And with that, Dickie’s Destroyers finished on 150/8 to win by three wickets.

It was also the Champagne Moment of the season for the Destroyers, with Simon May producing the five-run finish that sealed an extraordinary victory.

For Tripp’s Tailenders, the Champagne Moment went to Alex Kennedy, who celebrated getting his first ever runs for Threlkeld — a brilliant milestone to finish the season on.

A special mention also goes to Becca Skelton, who played her second ever hardball game for the Foxes. It was fantastic to have her involved, and we look forward to welcoming Becca properly on board for next season.

In the end, though, the result was almost secondary.

It was a brilliantly fun game between two sides made up of friends and teammates, providing a fitting finale to a fantastic Midweek Foxes season.

A great game, a ridiculous finish, plenty of laughs — and the Destroyers get bragging rights until next season!

Match report - League title decider goes down to the wire.

The Midweek Foxes signed off their fantastic league campaign with a cracking game at the Old Showfield against Staffield Cricket Club.

Batting first, Threlkeld posted an excellent 180/5 from their 20 overs. There were three unbeaten 41s at the top of the order, with Tom Fell, Dickie Johnson and Albin Thomas all retiring after making valuable contributions. Albin was particularly destructive, striking five sixes, while Dickie added six fours and a six in his final league innings. James Tripney also finished unbeaten on 24 from just 13 balls as Threlkeld set Staffield a challenging target.

Staffield got off to a flying start, with Xander Vasey making 40 from 19 balls before retiring, while Mark Vasey smashed 45 from just 16 balls. Threlkeld fought back with wickets at regular intervals, but Staffield's middle order kept the chase alive.

Darren Brookbanks was the pick of the Threlkeld bowling attack, taking three wickets, and his efforts also secured his place as the league's leading wicket-taker this season with 14 wickets.

In the end, Staffield held their nerve, reaching 181/5 in 18.3 overs to claim a five-wicket victory and, with it, the league title.

Dickie Johnson — a huge six straight back over the bowler's head in his final league game as captain. Quite a way to sign off! Sponsored by Cumbria Equity Release. Dickie narrowly missed out on the top batting average in the league, finishing in second place with an astonishing average of 172! The club would like to thank for the incredible efforts he has put into captaining the side over the previous years, seeing midweek cricket at Threlkeld thrive.

😬 Unluckiest Moment
Jacob Hewitson — after an excellent season in the field, Jacob unfortunately dropped his first catch Even the best have an off day!

Special mention to:
Kieran Rickerby for finishing as leading run-scorer in the league, and third in the averages with 136! Another fox, Tom Fell finished in fifth position in the run-scoring table. In the WK table, Mike Harrison had a fantastic season behind the stumps, finishing with 7 victims for the season.

A massive thank you and congratulations to Staffield Cricket Club on winning the league. They have been excellent throughout the season and fully deserve their title.

And a huge thank you to all the Midweek Foxes who have given up their time, played in the right spirit and made this such a memorable season.
