We are not the only Nordic walkers who like a hill😃

We are not the only Nordic walkers who like a hill😃

Our Nordic Walking instructors do LOVE a hill!

Why?

Well, walking uphill increases your heart rate, elevates your breathing rate, boosts calorie burning, and activates your hamstring and glute muscles (called the posterior chain), as well as your lower leg muscles - so you really get a good workout.

But the great thing about using Nordic Walking poles whilst you walk uphill is that you can really feel the benefit of the poles. Walking uphill with poles will generally feel easier than without. And that's because your body weight is supported by the poles, taking pressure off of the joints.

Or by adapting your technique slightly, you can actually work harder!

Well done to Nordic Walking Brockenhurst, Parks and Pathways Nordic Walking, Nordic Walking Watford, and Mercian Fitness & Nordic Walking for adding in some hills this week for their groups. Your walkers will thank you... maybe not today or tomorrow but they will thank you 😀
