Thank you to all who came along to the annual Peter Mason tournament on Sunday. The sun came out and we even had a Red Arrows fly-past!

The people in the final were Craig B, Lorraine H, Jim D and Alice R. The winners were Craig and Lorraine...congratulations!!

Many thanks to Sue K for arranging the catering and Marie for organising the competition!

The Mens 1st team at Thornton finished off their matches tonight with a great 4-0 win against Longton. The club were unsure until a few days before the season if they could even enter a team or not in Division 2 of the mens Fylde League due to 2 of last years players moving onto pastures new just a week before the season started. However this win gave them a creditable 4th placed finished and all credit to these 4 lads for pulling together and playing the majority of matches and retaining their league 2 status in what is a very competitive league.

Another great night at the club, mens 5th team v 2nd team in the inter club match. Both captains agreed to merge teams and all 4 matches were very competitive and very enjoyable. Thanks to all who attended.

A fantastic night at the club tonight for tennis saw the start of our Inter Club Mens friendly competition between the 5th and 4th teams. It might have been "friendly" but as always with the men very competitive with a nice mix of young and old faces and some who haven't been able to play in the Fylde Tennis league this year for various reasons.

Well done to all who took part, looking forward to seeing as many men down playing in the remaining 11 matches.

Well done to our Thornton Mens 2nd team Champions of Division 5.

The 2nd team completed their fixtures last night with a 3-1 hard fought victory at Wrea Green. They've had a fantastic season only dropping 8 points out of a possible 48 this season.

We have 4 great mens team in the Fylde Tennis League and 2 amazing ladies teams.

We are always looking for players to join both our mens and ladies teams down at TLTC, so if you fancy giving it a go and being part of future teams successes please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.

Sadly the non-stop rain put a halt to the Peter Mason Tournament this afternoon - but it didn’t put a dampener on all the fun… Thanks to everyone who came down for table tennis and tucker! A special shout out to Sue for organising - your reward was the win! Oh and well done to Mark too 😃

Thornton Men’s C Team completed their season this week with a 4-0 victory over Ansdell.

Our players on the night were (l to r) Reece, Colin, Jim and Andy but thanks to all who have played or supported us this year. We've not quite made the promotion race but are assured of a top half finish.

If you are interested in playing competitive tennis in a local league or just like the idea of social tennis with friends why not come and join us at Thornton Lawn Tennis Club.

Another great result for our U17 team! Match report as follows:

In very warm conditions our junior team won a well contested U17 match against Lancaster. It was a match where home conditions gave us an advantage during some close and competitive games.

RS and OS won their doubles in straight sets after a first set tie break. OS almost losing his racket during one epic rally as it slipped out of his hands and over the fence.

FS and FB played solidly to win their doubles in straight sets.
FS narrowly lost his singles, with one set going to a tie break.
FB won his singles on a championship tie break.

RS played some outstanding tennis to win his singles in straight sets against a really strong opponent.

OS won his singles after an epic championship tie break 14:12.
