That’s a seriously classy build.

The XL-sized Pace RC429 in Bucktail White has that rare combination of looking understated and fast at the same time. We offer Bucktail White as one of the flagship colour options on the RC429 range, and it really suits the clean steel-frame aesthetic.

What is this, may you ask? it’s a Rowdy Adventure Steel Unicorn - rare, rugged, and ready to roam. 🦄

From the outset, the RC429 was built to bridge two worlds with confidence. It needed to be efficient enough for long days covering fast gravel, yet capable and composed when the terrain becomes rougher, more remote, or the ride stretches further than expected. That balance shapes every part of the bike — from the tubing and geometry to the way the frame is constructed.

Adventures big or small, the RC429 is ready for them all and here’s a perfect example of that design concept.

Why run a mullet setup? With the smaller rear wheel, the back of the bike sits lower due to the smaller diameter wheel. BB is also lowered slightly which in turn lowers the centre of gravity improving handling and stability. It also slackens the head tube angle a touch, making the bike feel more confidence inspiring on steep trails. The riding position shifts slightly further back too which is another advantage when descending steep terrain.
The biggest benefit though is agility. The smaller rear wheel allows the bike to turn in and change direction more quickly, giving it a more responsive, playful feel on technical trails. So if you enjoy riding steep and demanding terrain, a mullet setup offers plenty of advantages.
If you’re more of an XC rider riding mostly rolling trails- particularly on choppy surfaces a full 29er is usually the better option for maintaining speed and efficiency.
