We go again….

We go in search of a fourth consecutive win tomorrow in what will be a sterner test against Whixley

Saturday saw us host Pateley Bridge.

With them winning the toss, and opting to Bat first, which was a fair decision given how the track looked.

At 7-1 we were soon on the board courtesy of Tewie. Some fine bowling was on display from the rest of the attack once again, backed up by good work display in the field.
However, stand out figures this week of 5-23 thanks to his latest action of quick fire spin bowling (one turned anyway ) was our vice captain D Nicholson, contributed to skittling Pateley for 110 within 35 overs.

Heading back out, chasing 111 to win.
50 for 0 was on the board before Bosco decided to club one up to Mid off. He didn’t have the same fortune as the others who followed who were all then dropped.
A solid knock from Timmy with 45, the damage was done.

The Skipper and vice captain saw us home finishing on 111-4 within 17 overs.

3/3 wins for the boys, the boys host Whixley at home this upcoming weekend.

We host a team from Uffington CC in a friendly fixture next Sunday. Which will see a few old faces return to the Home of Village Cricket. Squad to be announced this week

Bbq will be on throughout so be sure to get on down to the and settle in with a pint. We will also have a tombola on the go any donations of prizes would be appreciated

Can the boys make it 3 on the bounce?….

Back at the home of cricket this week, with the weather looking much better than last weekend the boys look to make hay.

Tim returns this week back at the top and replacing JC sees the rest of the team unchanged from Victory away last week at Burnt Yates.

Back to back…

Saturday saw us travel to Burnt Yates on a dismal day. Arguably no arguments on what would be done at the toss if it was won. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case and we were sent into bat

A six off the first ball from Ross saw us off to a good start unfortunately a difficult wicket to bat on saw batters make starts but regular losses of wickets hindered us. Posting a reasonable and defendable scores thanks to strong batting performances from Ross and Dan

We set to bowling taking consistent wickets with stand out fielding performances from Matty Shuttleworth putting his body on the line and Ross plucking a one handed catch like an apple out of a tree. We eventually bowling the opposition out for 107, Clarky being the pick of the bowling finishing on 4-32

We move onto our next game Saturday with a visit from Pateley Bridge. Team news to follow tomorrow

On the hunt for back to back….

After a successful weekend last weekend as well as a strong performance in the Nevett and evening league. We hit the road again to Burnt Yates looking to go back to back.

One change sees Tim drop out for Jamie. And a promotion up the order sees Liam open the batting with Ross

We are on the board..

The skipper returned this week, back from his holiday abroad to higher temperatures here in the UK, meant another ideal day for batting first.

After losing the toss, we were sent in to bat anyway.

It wasn’t the same start as last week however, with some good opening bowling from
Tanfield at 29-3 there was work to do.

That was soon rectified with the clubs highest partnership since 2012, and all time supassing 1999 record by 5 runs of 233.
Jardin, with his second tonne of the season finishing on a brilliant 173 and the skipper, Armstrong with his highest score so far for the season of 60

After 45 overs, the score of 343 to win was set.

This week, we managed to get a first win on the board finally , after being in field for a further 45 overs felt a long afternoon.

7 bowlers in the attack were used, but we just couldn’t get those last 2 wickets.

Over 600 runs recorded, with Tanfield closing on 269-8.
Assisted with their top scorer ‘Extras’ gives us something to work on for next weeks game away at Burnt Yates.

Onto the next local affair….

It looks like another hot one tomorrow with the weather looking good we host 2nd XI. Our first encounter since there promotion promises to be an interesting affair with both teams looking to get off the mark with their first win

The Skipper and Vice return following respective holidays. As well as a return for John Clark. All looking to make an impact after last week’s strong performance against top side Newton

Fantasy Gameweek 5 Standings
