Regatta Weekend Round‑Up

What a brilliant weekend at Blackpool & Fleetwood Yacht Club. Two full days of racing, wind, good food, and the kind of company that makes you forget how tired you are until you get home.

We had visitors from other clubs who slotted right in and made the whole thing feel even more special. Plenty of banter, plenty of laughs, and some really competitive sailing across both days.

Results:
1st – Martin Knotts (Phantom RCC)
2nd – Mike Preston & Sonia Kwiatkowska (Flying Fifteen BFYC)
3rd – Bob Johnston & Paul Jones (Flying Fifteen BFYC)

Well done to all three — solid sailing and well‑earned results.

Thank you to everyone who raced, cooked, helped, organised, photographed, or just turned up to support. It was exactly the kind of weekend that reminds you why we do it.

BFYC Regatta 2026

Get set for two days bursting with fast racing, big energy, and non‑stop buzz both on and off the water at the Blackpool & Fleetwood Yacht Club Regatta!

Sat 29 Aug: Pursuit Race – 11:35
Sun 30 Aug: Two Races – 12:10

Expect tight battles on the course, great laughs around the club, and some legendary post‑race storytelling back at the club. It’s going to be fast, fun, and absolutely brilliant.

Flying Fifteen Piel Pot Race – What a Cracking Day!

Saturday gave us glorious sunshine, proper breeze and a fleet ready for adventure. The Flying Fifteens raced across to Piel Island, enjoyed a well‑earned refreshment (or two…) at the Ship Inn, and then blasted back across the bay with smiles all round.

A brilliant day out — great wind, great company, and a proper bit of fun on and off the water. Roll on the next one!

DISCOVER SAILING OPEN DAY – WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY!

What an amazing Discover Sailing Open Day at Blackpool & Fleetwood Yacht Club today. We were treated to beautiful weather and perfect sailing conditions — ideal for anyone wanting to give sailing a try.

We had a brilliant turnout with families, couples and individuals of all ages. Some were completely new to sailing, while others were returning after a few years away. It was wonderful to see so many smiles out on the water and so much enthusiasm around the club.

A huge thank you to all our incredible members who volunteered and supported the event —
whether you were helming, out on the safety RIB, helping fit buoyancy aids, marshalling, welcoming visitors or keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
Your time, energy and passion are what make days like this possible.

Here’s to more people discovering the joy of sailing at BFYC.

Wonderful to see Severn continuing the next leg of her journey. Her run from Skippool Creek into Fleetwood Marina this morning was a real highlight for Blackpool & Fleetwood Yacht Club, and a reminder of the care and teamwork behind her restoration.It’s been a privilege for our members to watch her progress and to play a small part as she prepares for Saturday’s sail over to Roa Island. A proud moment for Severn and for our wider sailing community
