On the 8th August, Thornensians RUFC take on White Roses Charity Rugby Team for an incredible fundraising fixture.

This match is more than rugby.

🏉 𝙍𝙪𝙜𝙗𝙮 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙅𝙞𝙪-𝙅𝙞𝙩𝙨𝙪 🥋

On Sunday our U14 Squad went to the Doncaster Martial Arts Centre to learn jiu-jitsu takedown techniques with Instructor Chris White.

Chris had designed a bespoke training session to improve our tackling skill set, posture, individual techniques in contact, and to build our players confidence in showing size doesn’t matter.

The players engaged fully and really enjoyed the session. As a squad we will be returning to the dojo over the course of the season to build on these new techniques.

Sunday was an enriching experience for our players, and there can’t be many U14 rugby sides developing their players through jiu-jitsu
