Another weekend passes us by and another phenomenal achievement this time from Nickys PT client and regular at our Pilates classes.

At 7.30am on Saturday morning this wonderful human, Jill, set off on a 100km (all in one go) mission from Scarborough. Anyone who's walked any length of the Cleveland way will know that literally every time you come into a bay, you go down a whole load of steps, and then back up a whole load of steps. Not sure the loop back around in the Esk valley was any easier either! A hot weekend 🔥 🥵, hiking through the night, trying to look after sore feet, it's hardly surprising she feels a bit broken today. Some sheer grit and determination on show here: 100km complete ✔️ 👍 raising money for Alzeihemers in the process.
We are super proud of this monumental effort.

It's been fantastic to see Sarah settle so well into JDW Fitness, she has quickly built a diverse client base at the gym and is making a real difference to people's lives. Among her clients; those recovering from stroke, living with the effects of a brain tumour and navigating menopause. Sarah brings empathy, knowledge and professionalism to every session.

This week, Sarah has been busy attending a residential as part of her MSc in Sport and Exercise Science and Medicine, continuing to expand her knowledge and skills to better support her clients.

We love having Sarah as part of the team, she brings laughter, enthusiasm and great energy to the gym.

'MOTIVATION MONDAY' time and a Bumper weekend for races.
Firstly the SwaleDale Marathon, a grueling 24-mile self-navigated fell run with about 1500m of elevation and a wind to test the very metal of every runner. Joe Martlew put in an incredible performance and pulled up a 2nd place. Outstanding Joe, well done 🥈🏆👍
Also in the mix and again having to push hard against the windy conditions was Joe Poole 🏅🏆👍 (sorry no pics 😥), Paul Chapman🏅🏆👍 both regular bootcamp and Hyrox attendees. Kelly Grieve 🏅🏆👍who fits all her training in online around a very busy life. Kelly also includes Hyrox sessions as part of her program to keep her strength and fitness on point. Well done guys, super proud of you all.
Next we have Hayley Pratt 🏅🏆👍 who secured a very impressive 10k PB after recovering from the ankle injury that scuppered her attempt at the Northallerton 10k. Hayley has been working on her strength by coming to our LIFTED classes. Fantastic job Hayley, well done.

There seems to be a general theme this weekend of showing up, adapting and getting s**t done.
On Sunday, Nickys client Faye Levi took on her longest Open Water swim to date. 5km.
Whilst Coniston Water might've looked like a mill pond on Saturday, Sunday's race conditions told a very different story! Swimming in choppy waters with a mandatory tow float comes with it's own challenges - one minute it's on your head, the next it's around your neck or under your arms. Add in the waves and the task of watching out for fellow swimmers and it quickly becomes a bit of a wrestle.
In conditions like that, it stops being about chasing a time and becomes about adapting, staying composed, and getting yourself safely to the finish line.
Well done, Faye! We salute you 👊
