A huge well done to everyone involved in making the World Cup Quest such a fantastic success.

From all of us at GW Football Academy, we're proud to have played a small part in such a brilliant community event.
Seeing so many children& volunteers come together for a day of football and fundraising was truly special.

A massive thank you to Friends of Sowerby School for inviting us along and for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make events like this happen.

The dedication and effort from everyone involved never goes unnoticed.

Seeing Rory’s face at the end when he absolutely nailed the top corner made every minute worthwhile! 😁🔥

Rory has been working incredibly hard during the off-season, showing fantastic commitment and a real desire to improve as he prepares for next season. 💪⚽️

Today's session focused on developing his technical ability, confidence in front of goal.

The hard work paid off with a brilliant strike right into the top corner to finish the session! 🚀🥅

Remember, improvement doesn't happen overnight. It's built through consistency, effort, and a willingness to keep learning.

Our Dribble Ballers sessions are the perfect first step on their football journey, helping children develop confidence, coordination, balance and social skills through exciting football-based games and activities.

⚽🔥 Great First 1-to-1 Session Complete! 🔥⚽

A fantastic start to our pre-season programme with Alex Charlesworth, our very own GW Football Academy Assistant Head Coach.

This week's session focused on building the foundations for a strong pre-season with Knaresborough Town AFC combining high-intensity fitness work with position-specific wing-back training.

The session covered:

✅ Endurance and conditioning work
✅ Explosive speed and recovery runs
✅ Attacking wing-back movements
✅ Match-realistic physical demands

Alex put in an outstanding shift from start to finish, showing the professionalism, work ethic and determination needed to hit the ground running when pre-season begins.

Our Summer Holiday Club returns for 2026 with six fantastic weeks of football, games, challenges and competitions for boys and girls of all abilities.

Ages 5 - 14
