One of the most important things sport can teach a child is not to give up when things get hard.
Children donβt always dislike the sport itself. Sometimes they simply donβt like the feeling of struggling β when something doesnβt work straight away, when they have to repeat, stay disciplined, accept corrections and keep trying.
Of course, we should always listen to our children and recognise when something is genuinely wrong. But we also need to understand the difference between being truly unhappy and simply finding something difficult.
Our role as adults is not to remove every challenge, but to support them through it:
βI know itβs hard. But you can do hard things. Weβll get through it together.β β€οΈ
Because sport is about so much more than skills and results. It teaches resilience, discipline, patience and confidence.
Weβre not raising children who never struggle.
Weβre helping raise children who know how to overcome struggles. π
