Just like our youth section, our social media presence continues to grow from strength to strength.

We’re delighted to have nearly 1,100 followers on Facebook and 600 followers on Instagram — a fantastic milestone and a reflection of the growing interest and support for our football community.

Our social media channels are an important way for us to share the great work taking place across the club and our wider football community. From youth development and matchday updates to community activities, achievements and opportunities, we want to make sure more people can see, support and get involved in everything that’s happening.

It’s nearly the weekend, we’re back this Saturday with Coach Craig’s mini soccer school on the clubs main pitch.

For ages 4-9

The aim is to create a supportive environment where every player can learn, challenge themselves, build confidence, and most importantly, enjoy playing football. Whether players are developing their skills or looking to take their game to the next level, our sessions provide a fantastic platform for growth, learning, and enjoyment within a professional stadium environment.

What does coaching involve? ⚽

Coaching is about so much more than teaching players how to play football. It’s about developing young people, building confidence and creating an environment where players can learn, improve and enjoy the game.

Good coaching helps children to:

* 💪 Build confidence in their ability and decision-making
* 🎯 Recognise areas for improvement and understand how to work on them
* 🧠 Develop problem-solving and decision-making skills
* 🤝 Learn the value of teamwork, communication and supporting others

Here’s a clip of our U14’s in action last night, being led by manager Dave Richards.

They’re fortunate to have three fantastic coaches within the team — Dave, Jay and Callum — who between them have years of experience, knowledge and a real passion for helping develop the next generation of players here in Thetford.

Last night’s session focused on positioning and playing out from the back under pressure, giving the players the opportunity to develop their understanding while putting those skills into practice.

And it’s not just the players who make a team — great coaches make a huge difference too.

A fantastic evening on the 3G pitch, watching so many teams out training and putting in the hard work. It’s brilliant to see the dedication, commitment and passion shown by both the coaches and players.

There was a real sense of energy around the pitch, with coaches giving their time and knowledge to help players develop, improve and, most importantly, enjoy their football. Nights like this are a great reminder of the important role that grassroots football plays in bringing people together and creating opportunities for players of all ages to grow and develop.

It was also great to see all the players looking smart and well presented in their training kits. Looking the part can help create a positive mindset and a sense of pride in representing your team.

As the old saying goes… “Look smart, play smart!” 😊⚽

🚨Volunteers Needed🚨

As we approach the new season, we are looking for volunteers to help manage the tea hut on match days.

The tea hut is a vital part of match days, helping to keep players, supporters and visitors refreshed and hydrated, while also raising valuable funds to support our youth section.

If you can spare some time to help out, we would be incredibly grateful. Whether you can volunteer regularly or occasionally, your support will make a real difference.

⚽ U10s Match Report ⚽

A fantastic battling performance from our U10s today as they came from behind to earn a well-deserved draw against a strong, well-drilled North Elmham side.

After finding themselves behind, the Town boys dug deep and showed tremendous character, determination and teamwork to fight their way back into the game. Everyone gave 150%, working hard for each other right until the final whistle.

🔴⚫ IT’S GAME DAY! ⚫🔴

Thetford Town U18s are back in Thurlow Nunn League action tonight as they make the trip to Soham Town for their third league fixture of the 2026/27 campaign.

The lads will be looking to put in another strong performance on the road as they continue their league campaign and look to build some momentum early in the season. 💪⚽

A massive thank you to Ramage Brickworks for their fantastic support of the U18s, generously purchasing a speaker for the squad to use on those long away trips! 🎶🔊

Now comes the important question…

Who’s taking on the role of U18s Bus DJ? 👀🎧

Will we be treated to a carefully curated pre-match playlist, or are the lads going to be fighting over the aux all season? 😂

Whatever the soundtrack, the focus now turns to the pitch.

The pitches have now been marked, and action returns to Mundford Road this weekend, with home fixtures getting underway once again.

The pitches are not yet at the standard we would normally expect, but with the season already underway, we cannot delay the return to home fixtures any further.

There are, however, plenty of positive signs. The newly sown seed has already taken and begun to germinate, which is particularly noticeable in the latest picture. This growth will continue to establish and thicken throughout the autumn, with the aim of bringing the pitches back to the high standard we expect as the season progresses.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we continue to work on improving the playing surfaces.

⚽ U15 CLARETS MATCH REPORT
Norwich United U15s 1–2 Thetford Town Clarets U15s

The Thetford Town Clarets U15s were on the road this weekend as they made the early trip to face Norwich United U15s, with a 9:30am kick-off.

With players travelling from Newmarket, Mildenhall and surrounding areas, it was certainly an early start for the lads — which meant getting to bed early and, perhaps most importantly, getting off the PlayStations early on Saturday night! 🎮😂

Despite the early start, Town arrived focused and ready for the challenge.

From the opening whistle, Thetford started brightly, moving the ball well and playing some excellent football. The lads showed good composure in possession, passing the ball around confidently and looking to create opportunities.

Despite Town’s positive start, Norwich United were awarded a penalty, which they converted to put the home side 1-0 ahead. Goalkeeper Jack Tyler came extremely close to keeping the ball out and can consider himself unlucky not to have made the save.

Rather than allowing the setback to affect them, Town responded positively and continued to work hard. Their persistence was rewarded before half-time when Mateus found the back of the net to bring the Clarets level at 1-1.

Mateus was outstanding throughout the game and put in a huge performance, showing tremendous energy, determination and commitment from start to finish. A thoroughly deserved Man of the Match performance. 👏

🔴 HALF-TIME: NORWICH UNITED 1–1 THETFORD TOWN

The half-time team talk once again proved effective, with the lads coming back out for the second half with their game faces firmly on.

Town immediately increased the intensity, pressing higher up the pitch and putting Norwich under pressure.

That pressure quickly paid off.

Reggie Sim chased down the Norwich goalkeeper, refusing to give up on what looked like a lost cause. His persistence was rewarded as he managed to get around the keeper and nutmeg him to put Town 2-1 ahead! ⚽🔥

It was a fantastic example of the attitude this group continues to develop — never giving up and putting pressure on the opposition until the very last moment.

With the lead secured, Town continued to press and work hard, but Norwich United never gave up and the game remained tightly contested right until the final whistle.

There were a number of decisions throughout the match that left both sets of players and supporters scratching their heads, but credit must go to the players on both sides. Despite the frustrations, they continued to compete, battle and give everything they had for their respective teams.

The Clarets showed excellent resilience, determination and togetherness to see the game through and come away with a fantastic 2-1 away victory.

👏 A huge well done to all the lads.
Early start, long journeys, a tough opponent and a fiercely contested game — but the Clarets showed exactly the character needed to come away with all three points.

⚽ U14 MATCH REPORT | HEIGHAM PARK RANGERS U14 vs THETFORD TOWN U14

The U14s got their season underway with a hard-fought opening fixture against Heigham Park Rangers U14, on what proved to be an extremely challenging pitch.

Despite the difficult conditions, the boys started the game positively and created some good opportunities. However, an unfortunate long-range effort took a difficult bounce and went through our goalkeeper’s hands, leaving us 1-0 down at half-time.

At the break, Jay and the coaching team had a few words with the players, and whatever was said certainly had the desired effect!

The second half was a completely different story. The boys came out with a renewed energy, showed great determination and began to dominate possession and territory. They played some excellent football, worked hard for one another and, most importantly, showed the character to turn the game around.

Three second-half goals followed, completing a fantastic comeback and securing a 3-1 victory for Thetford Town U14s.

A brilliant way to start the season and a great example of the attitude and resilience this group can show. Plenty to build on, but a very positive opening performance. 👏

Hopefully, as the season progresses and conditions improve, we’ll see pitches return to the standards everyone wants for youth football.
