In a world-first partnership with Berkshire Bio-Tech, the Thames Valley Kings are proud to announce the signing of five "Cyber-Enhanced Macaques" to the development squad.

After a loophole was discovered in the IWBF (International Wheelchair Basketball Federation) rulebook regarding "biological classification of players," the Kings have spent the last six months training these athletes.

Why Monkeys?

1) Low Center of Gravity: Their specialised mini-wheelchairs are virtually untippable.

2) The "Tail" Advantage: Each monkey has been fitted with a haptic-feedback cybernetic tail, allowing for a 360-degree defensive radius.

3) Neural Link: They don't need play-calling; they are linked via a "Hive-Mind" Bluetooth 6.0 connection directly to the coach’s iPad.

Quote from the Head of Primate Performance at Berkshire Bio-Tech - Dr Hank P. Zaius:
"The agility is unmatched. While humans are thinking about the pick-and-roll, 'Bubbles' (our new Power Forward) has already peeled a banana, executed a three-pointer, and swung from the backboard. It’s the future of the sport."

Books, like basketball, should be accessible to everyone. This World Book Day, we’re celebrating the publishers and authors making sure stories are inclusive - from audiobook formats to relatable, diverse characters.

We are committed to making sure our huddle is a place for everyone’s story.

Happy International Wheelchair Day! 🏀Today, we celebrate the mobility and freedom our chairs provide, and the incredible independence of our athletes. These chairs aren’t a constraint; they are our avenue to competition, team, and pure athletic expression. We’re more than a team; we are a community built on resilience and strength.

Show your support! Drop a 🏀 in the comments if you’re celebrating with us!

The wheelchair basketball family has lost a bright light with the passing of Jo Coates-McGrath.

The Thames Valley Kings send our love and support to Jo's family and our friends at Cardiff Met Archers.

We will remember Jo for the person she was off the court. She was incredibly easy to talk to and possessed a personality that brightened any room.

She was also a woman of her word - a trait she famously proved when she arrived at a game with a mountain of Welsh cakes, simply because we’d mentioned them in a joke on social media once. It’s small moments of kindness like that which defined her.

We join the wider community in mourning a dedicated individual and celebrating the impact she had on the sport we all love.

As Star Wars Day comes to a close... We've had way to much fun creating the iconic characters imagined as wheelchair basketball players.

Just imagine the ultimate wheelchair basketball dream team:
- Yoda running plays with "Do or do not, there is no try!"
- Obi-Wan dishing out assists like a true floor general
- Leia leading with heart and hustle
- Darth Vader... bringing serious full-court pressure
- Boba Vetta sniping threes from deep space

Who do you have coach? for us of course, it's got to be Jabba the Hutt yelling from the sidelines!

Even Jedi need to keep their fitness up - and sport is a great way to stay active, have fun, and feel the Force! 💫

Wheelchair basketball builds strength, skill, and community - no lightsaber required.

Get involved. Stay strong. Be a part of something out of this galaxy.
