Post Race Statement

Good evening all, we hope you are recovering well from the CPM Thame 10K Road Race Sunday morning. we look forward to seeing the bright red t-shirts in the town and on the Phoenix trail, im the country and those nearby over the next year and beyond.
We would like to give some information to let you know what happened with our race timing on the day. We were made aware by our timing supplier that the race bibs had been sent to the wrong event just before 7am on the day of the race. Further information was gained and it was soon apparent that it would not be possible to divert the van carrying the bibs to arrive in Thame in time for the start of the race. With that information, we were left with the choices of cancelling the race, or using a manual method of timing as employed in other races, where a finish time is taken, then finish order is assigned to the times. As we would have nearly 1000 runners arriving, some travelling large distances for the race, and being part of the Oxfordshire County championships, it was decided we would use manual timing. This provided some challenges to ensure sufficient marshals were assigned to recording finish numbers and ensuring safety of all runners was not affected. This also relied on runners working with the finish line marshals to keep race order to ensure suitable time keeping. This was not the smooth, uneventful race we had planned, but based on the situation we had been presented, we as a committee agreed that this would be our approach on the day.
As timing in this manner can be challenging we have not finalized the results yet, but have posted provisional results. If you feel that your timings aren’t what you expected, if you have a screen shot of your Garmin or Strava timings, along with your race number, please email this information to [email protected]
Supplying watch or Strava times of those not listed in the provisional results on our website Monday evening will not only help you but runners around you as we can pinpoint where we need a fix position for one of the group to provide timings for the rest. The race committee would like to thank you all for your patience while we finalized things.
The CPM Thame 10K Road Race happens each year because over 100 unpaid volunteers give up their time, not just on race day, but in the 6 months preceding; working with the town council, emergency services, medical services, traffic management, our sponsor, marshal teams and many other activities to put on a race for all to enjoy, from experienced runners, to those who this is their first event. The proceeds of this event are awarded to local charities providing assistance such as hospice care, mental health awareness, support for the elderly, local music, and youth projects.
We aim to gradually include as many of the missing times as possible by close of this week. Thank you for your support and patience
