It was fantastic to have three Overbury players representing Worcestershire in the Midland Counties victory over Warwickshire at the weekend, in Stratford-upon-Avon. Congratulations to Howard for his first call-up to the team!

Finals Day at Overbury was a great success this year - and the weather was kind. Four competitions reached their conclusion, all the games were played to a high standard and in great spirits, and all the spectators enjoyed themselves very much (judging by the ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahs’).

We will report all the results when the Closing of the Green comes around, but here are a few snaps of the Men’s Singles Final between our County representatives Dan and Neil.

Fun fact : the last time someone other than Dan or Neil lifted the Overbury singles trophy was 2015!

In another first for the club, our Triples Captain Dan was selected to skip at County level last weekend, with Neil also playing on his rink. He won his rink by 7 and contributed to a very comprehensive overall win for Worcestershire (against Warwickshire).

Our boys will be taking on Northamptonshire this weekend at Stourport in the last game of the season, with Dan skipping again.

It’s been a great season for our club this year. Our players have made it to two County semi-finals and one quarter-final. A great achievement for such a small club.

And in the latest instalment, our Men’s Champion Neil has won the Worcestershire and Herefordshire region Champion of Champions and booked his place in the
Regional Finals in early August!

It was wonderful to play some competitive bowls at the weekend. For the first time in many years we have entered a couple of National competitions, and on Saturday we visited our friends at Gilt Edge (Kidderminster) for the first round of the Two Fours competition.

It was a really closely fought match throughout, and in the end we won one rink each but congratulations go to Gilt Edge for winning by 4 shots overall. A good time was had by all!

New guidelines will be in force from May 17th. Our favourite : the restriction on the number of people allowed at the club for organised activities has been lifted. At this time of the year though it will also be nice to be able to have a drink inside again!

We're delighted to publish our Return to Play guidance for Step 3, effective from Monday 17 May. The headlines:

1️⃣ All restrictions on formats and numbers for organised activity under the jurisdiction of Bowls England will be removed.
2️⃣ Car sharing will be permitted.
3️⃣ Indoor hospitality can resume.
