Tetbury CC Round-Up: Wins, Runs and Sunshine Smiles 🏏☀️
It’s been another brilliant week for Tetbury CC, with teams across the club serving up big scores, dominant wins and the odd nail-biting finish along the way.
Saturday saw the senior sides in action, with the 1st XI producing a commanding display against Frocester 2nd XI. A total of 253 proved far beyond the visitors, who were bowled out for 156 as Tetbury secured a convincing 97-run victory. The 2nd XI travelled to Painswick and posted a competitive 185 before the hosts squeezed home by three wickets in a contest that could easily have gone the other way. Meanwhile, the 3rd XI made light work of their chase against Minchinhampton, skittling the hosts for 92 before cruising to a nine-wicket win.
Earlier in the week, the Midweek XI put on a show at Andoversford. After racking up 185, Tetbury’s bowlers ran riot, dismissing the home side for just 50 to seal a spectacular 135-run victory.
The club’s junior section continued to impress. The Girls Under-11s earned a well-deserved 19-run win over Poulton, while the Under-13s completed a superb chase of 182 against Frocester to win by seven wickets, thanks in no small part to a magnificent 98 from Dylan, who fell just two runs short of a richly deserved century. The Under-9s also enjoyed a convincing 64-run victory over Upton St Leonards.
The Women’s Hardball side clearly had evening plans. After bowling Stroud out for 84, Tetbury wasted little time in knocking off the runs to claim a six-wicket victory. A professional performance, another win on the board, and not a single unnecessary over bowled.
All told, it was a tremendous few days for the club. Seven wins from eight matches, victories recorded by senior, women’s and junior sides alike, and plenty of reasons to be smiling around the club. The depth of talent at Tetbury continues to shine, and with performances like these, there’s plenty to look forward to as the season gathers momentum.
