Yesterday’s Jivamukti class with the wonderful .g.devi was something really special.
Before we moved, Raman shared some of the history and roots of the Jivamukti method, including stories of Shri Swami Nirmalananda, the ‘anarchist guru’ who gifted Sharon Gannon and David Life the mantra ‘Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu’
Which means ‘May all beings, everywhere, be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute to that happiness and to that freedom for all’
We chanted the mantra together, setting our intention not just for ourselves, but for every living being. A reminder that yoga is so much more than shapes on a mat, it’s a practice of connection, compassion, devotion, and liberation.
Then came a super fun (and definitely a little spicy) asana practice, followed by meditation and stillness.
I absolutely loved having Raman come and share with us, and judging by the smiles in the room, everyone else did too. Thank you Raman for such a beautiful afternoon, and to everyone who joined and shared your wonderful energy with us.
I really hope to welcome Raman back to Big Heart again very soon. But in the meantime, check out her gorgeous studio over in the Cube, next to the Mailbox in Birmingham ♥️
