It’s been so great to get back into leading weekly kettlebell sessions again - I’ve been doing a Sunday class at 8:30am for a month now. The Sunday class is pure kettlebells and a bit more strength focused.

Last night was the start of my new Wednesday kettlebell met con class (see description below) and I managed to get some photos - the capacity is for 16 attendees and it’s already fully booked for next week so I’ll take that πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

My kettlebell seafront sessions are back πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Not quite 6:30am as I’d planned but all the 7’s at 7am still looked good and I got it done - 7 x deadlift, row, clean, squat, press, sn**ch and swing with a short run loop after x 7 rounds πŸ₯΅ I’m still taking it easy with my running following a calf injury so I combined some shorter running efforts with a kettlebell complex. This is one of my favourite ways to do cardio without the high impact of just running and something I’ve included in my training for over 15 years πŸ™ŒπŸΌ Love taking the kettlebells outside 🌊

It’s been a long time coming but I’m really excited about returning to deliver weekly kettlebell sessions at Broadmeadow Sports Centre in Teignmouth πŸ’ͺ🏼

I got a bit nostalgic remembering the classes I taught in Bristol between 2014 and 2018 - lots of lovely memories.

Life changed dramatically in August 2017 when my Mum died suddenly and unexpectedly πŸ’” After a lot of trauma, It felt hard being in Bristol without her so I decided to move away to Devon - it’s been very restorative for me and I love my life in a seaside town 🌊

The second photo was taken by Mark after my final class at Easton Leisure Centre, Bristol on Thursday 11 October 2018 - it was the first kettlebell class I started teaching and it was the hardest one to give up 😒

It’s taken a while to recalibrate my life but I’m looking forward to this next phase πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Moved my kettlebell class to a more sociable time of 6:30pm on Tuesday evenings Forward S-Teps πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I’ve been coaching kettlebells for over 10 years and to bigger groups (18-20 people) when I was in Bristol - the experience was invaluable and I loved it. However, I prefer the focus on smaller groups these days as it allows for enough space, weight progression and any technique corrections.

This was a great start for some of these first timers πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

From mid-April, we’re moving classes to Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 7:15pm at Forward S-Teps.

There are many benefits to incorporating kettlebells into your training eg. Improving flexibility, mobility, strength, fitness and body composition. More muscle mass leads to a higher metabolism. The higher your metabolism, the more calories you burn β€” even when you’re resting.

The evidence supports women prioritising strength training in the peri-menopause/menopause phase to help prevent loss of bone 🦴 density (osteoporosis), decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke ❀️ 🫁 (because of oestrogen level decline), improve metabolism by building muscle mass πŸ’ͺ🏼 and prevent weight gain and with fluctuating hormone levels, the release of endorphins (feel good hormones) can improve mental health 🧠

Sessions will be kept to a maximum of 6-8 people to ensure progression, enough space and safety.

Mondays: 7:15pm to 8:00pm

Fridays: 6:00pm to 6:45pm

New Kettlebell class in Teignmouth πŸ’ͺ🏼

I’ve been looking for ages but I’ve managed to find a suitable indoor venue and I’m looking to starting a weekly class in town.

There are many benefits to incorporating kettlebells into your training and as a woman who’s 50 and approaching menopause, I’ve prioritised strength training over running as this is far more beneficial for my body in terms of muscle mass, bone density and metabolism. More muscle mass leads to a higher metabolism. The higher your metabolism, the more calories you burn β€” even when you’re resting.

Kettlebell exercises can reveal and fix misalignments, compensations, asymmetries, and weaknesses in the body, relieving you of muscle stiffness and joint pain. Research shows that kettlebell training can improve mobility, flexibility, muscle strength, cardiovascular fitness and body composition.

Sessions will be kept to a maximum of 6-8 people to ensure progression, enough space and safety.
