Good news from last nights trip to Dawlish Leisure Centre, Elm Grove Road was open and the leisure centre was fairly easy to access. I think there will still be some short delays on Friday due to the time we start and also the introduction of temporary traffic lights.

We start back to swimming next week. Please be aware there are road closures in Dawlish and you cannot get to the leisure centre directly from Teignmouth. There are several long diversions in place, please leave additional travel time to make it to the lessons on time.

A reminder that the club will break for the Easter Holidays on Friday 3rd April through to Friday 17th April.
Friday 27th and Monday 30th will be the last sessions this term.
Monday swimmers will be doing their time trials on the 30th March.
Swimming will be back on Monday 20th and Friday 24th April.

Latest from our WhatsApp community page from the clubs head coach: It is important that all club members, from non-swimmers to the senior group, wear tight fitting costumes and a swim hat for those with long hair. Baggy costumes/sunsuits/board shorts create a lot of drag, which makes it very difficult for swimmers to maintain a horizontal body position. Long hair, even in a pony tail, creates unnecessary distractions. Following this advice will help your child to improve their swimming, and make the volunteer teachers’ job a little bit easier. Assessments: we have had a few questions about how we assess the children for their badges.
Each week during the lessons we cover at least two of the badge elements, introducing, developing and finally mastering each element. We then spend two more weeks revisiting all elements and finally completing the final assessment.
This week we will be revisiting the elements the children have learnt over the last four weeks assessing their progress in that stage.
You may have noticed that our teachers were recently observed and their teaching skills assessed under the Swim England guidelines. We were delighted with the feedback regarding each of the teachers and the club as a whole. The standard and professionalism of the teachers and club were highlighted and the standard of the lessons and the delivery was commended. The children were also given positive feedback saying how well they behaved and engaged so well in the lessons. So well done to everyone.

Notice of AGM and fees due to all parents:
The annual Swim England renewal is due by the end of January. The membership fee has risen to £20 per child. Please pay this to the normal account with the ref: MemFee and child’s surname.
Please let us know if you cannot make the payment for any reason as membership will be lapsed if payment is not received.

That’s a wrap!
Wishing you all a merry Christmas and see you all back in the new year from Monday 5th January 2026.
I am sure you will join me in thanking our AMAZING volunteers, who not only give up their time to teach but dedicate hours and hours behind the scenes. Without them there would be no club. I cannot express how grateful I am for their generosity, support and willingness to volunteer. Please remember to thank them when you see them.
