With it ending in a draw on Tuesday at Shobrooke with rain being the victor Wednesday night ended in defeat when we hosted Spreyton. Albeit a decent performance against strong opposition we came up 20 runs short! Highlights of the match included a couple wickets each for Brad, Dan and Josh, with Archie picking up another and catches for Mark, Steve and Edd.

Batting performances of note were again from Archie retiring on 25 and Dan our man of the match carrying his bat for 29.

Today we travel to Tipton St John hoping to beat the showers forecast this afternoon . Tipton is one of our longest running historical fixtures in which we compete for the Mark Giles trophy. We head over this afternoon hoping to retain the trophy and try and emulate last seasons nail biting win.

Match Report

Tedburn 185 all out (39.4) beat Bridford 105-8 by 80 runs

Having won the toss knowing we batted deep the traditional tricky Bridford wicket proved problematic early on. With the ball doing all sorts it proved costly with Archie, Alex, Lindsay and Ross all departing early leaving us in peril at 23-4 off the first 9! Edd and Dan then dug in and saw off some tidy bowling taking us to a more respectable 60 at the halfway point with the general consensus from those watching on that we’d happily take 100 to try and defend! Edd went after drinks with Mark now partnering Dan. The hard yards paid off with the pitch flattening out allowing the pair to play some shots and accelerate the scoring. Mark going first for 39 and Dan soon after for his maiden Tedburn 50 reaching 55. Elliot, Mike and Adam contributed well late on with some tidy cameos, finishing up with a duck for Matt leaving us with a competitive 180 all out on a tricky wicket.

Mike and Matt were chucked the ball to open up our reply in the field, both bowled well and economically restricting their openers with Mike especially returning impressive figures of 5-0 from his 5 over spell! 1st change brought on Archie and Adam! Adam managed just the two before his hamstring went, but Archie was imperious from the other end offering Bridford nothing with his accurate bowling! He bowled right through registering great figures of 1-8 from his 8 over spell. Dan replaced Adam, rolling back the years with some top quality seam bowling! At this stage the wickets started to fall with Bridford knowing a change of pace was required. Mark joined Dan at the other end and between them took 5 wickets with Mark taking 2-20 from his 5 and Dan an impressive 7-3 off 7! Last change brought on Alex and Ross who both bowled well, Alex snaffling 2-18 from his 5 and Ross unfortunate to go wicketless but at least he got a run earlier when batting! Tidy work in the field throughout the day particularly from our resident glovesman Elliot taking a couple sharp catches with one each for Mark, Mike and Dan

First game of the season is upon us!

Today we travel to Bridford for a 40 over fixture on a glorious Sunday afternoon, kick starting off our new season. The skipper names a strong looking 11 knowing the challenges a strong Bridford team pose and a traditionally green wicket in stunning surroundings!

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder that nets start this coming Tuesday 31st March 8:15 - 9:15pm at QE upper school. A good chance to get your eye in for the upcoming season. We will be sharing with Crediton Inn Cricket Club as per last season. All welcome. £3 per head cash on the night please.
