CSC Members Go the Extra Mile........
We love hearing about the challenges and achievements of our CSC members – and this month we have two fantastic stories to share.
Linda & Roy Closing in on MAD1000
Toddington-based members Linda & Roy Carey are on the verge of completing an incredible milestone this month as they reach the end of the MAD1000 Challenge. The challenge is simple to explain, but rather harder to achieve: complete a dedicated walk or run of at least one mile, every single day for 1,000 consecutive days! With only a handful of days remaining, the finish line is now firmly in sight. A fantastic achievement and a real demonstration of commitment and determination – congratulations to you both!
Of course, there is one question… having made it this far, do you stop at 1,000 or keep going until the end of the year and complete MAD 2026 and MAD3 (3 years) as well?
From Couch to 5K… to the London Marathon!
Last year, Vicky Armitage joined CSC’s Spring Couch to 5K programme, successfully graduating the course by running the Houghton Hall 5K Parkrun. But Vicky certainly hasn’t stopped there. She has continued running and is now taking on an even bigger challenge – training for the 2027 London Marathon! Going from non-runner to preparing for a marathon is an amazing journey, and everyone at CSC is delighted to have played a small part in helping Vicky get started. We’ll be cheering her on as the training miles build towards marathon day.
Vicky is also using the challenge to raise money for Sense, a charity supporting people with complex disabilities. If you’d like to support Vicky and her marathon challenge, please visit her fundraising page for more information or to make a donation.
